ZOTAC Cup is proud to announce its expansion: The weekly ZOTAC StarCraft II North America Cup! The tournament will start with his kick-off tournament on Saturday May, 14th 15:00 PDT with $100 USD. For the kick-off tournament we are also happy to join forces with our partners Kingston and Cooler Master to provide additional prizes.
Website: http://sc2na.zotac-cup.com When: 15:00 PDT every Saturday Check in: one hour before the tournament starts Players: up to 512 Prize: 1st Place: $100 USD
Support: http://sc2na.zotac-cup.com/en/cups/support FAQ: http://sc2na.zotac-cup.com/en/statics/faq
The ZOTAC StarCraft II North America tournament will be played in a "pool system" with high and low seeds until the quarter finals. Starting with the quarter-finals each round will then be played in a single elimination grid system. Quarter- and semifinal held in Best of three mode. The final will be best of five. Maps will be vetoed until the right set of possible maps is found.
During the tournament, the pool system will find the next available opponent automatically for the participant to minimize waiting times between the matches. A limited number of players receive high seeds in order to not eliminate each other before the final rounds. If a high seeded player loses his match, his opponent will inherit his high seed slot.

|
so maybe american players can get up to european level now that they got more stuff they can compete in
but it's nice to see these weekly cups expand. It's a good way for new players to gain reputation.

I actually think this is somewhat close to the truth. EU have had much more small weekly tournaments than NA since the beta and I do think that's at least partly the reason why EU is slightly ahead atm.

Im not sure about how the general game-o-sphere is in EU, but another obstacle I see for America is the seeming FPS preference in competitive gaming and prevalence in general gaming culture. Also, if SC2 became too popular, it would also me a loud chunk of our population would start to claim SC2 creates gang generals and prepares our kids for drug wars and, sex, and rock and roll.

sweet ive been looking forward to zotac coming to na ever since bw days :D

Finally a weekly tour for the NA scene, good to see. Thank you Zotac for supporting ESPORTS.

Europe <3 ZOTAC!
You should feel honoured, America )
|
isn't there a go4sc2 on NA servers allready?
|
You guys have a typo in Your NA FAQ
http://sc2na.zotac-cup.com/de/statics/faq
Who can participate in the ZOTAC StarCraft II Cup?
Everybody who has an original version of StarCraft II can participate in the ZOTAC StarCraft II Cup and has an account for the Europe Server, from beginners to casual gamers and from amateurs to professionals. Each of the players is invited to take part.
Should say North American Server right?
|
I don't mean to be a party-pooper, but doesnt this belong in the SC2 Tourney's forum?
Really looking forward to this

Yes, but this just adds more to the weekly tournament scene.
|
Why Terminus RE instead of the newer SE that has been used in GSL for a while?
(that picture of testbug is also out of date they haven't had lava for a while make sure to use the latest version of all maps)
|
Yay! I remember waking up super early for the Euro WC3 ZOTAC T_T
|
some nice signups for the first cup so far! i really like to see one of the big euro-cups expanding
wish you best of luck for your "new" tourney!!
|
|
Wow this great, the expansion to the NA that is. I can't wait to get into them when I return.
|
so where can I download the maps?
|
I'd totally want the RAM & SSD bundle over the gfx card and $100.
SSDs are expensive.
|
This is fantastic, thank you Zotac!
|
Can you guys use the MLG versions of the maps in your map pool where available so people don't have to worry about close spawn on maps like meta?
|
Why the heck do people not use Terminus SE??? It's the newer, updated version of Terminus RE. I'm frustrated so many tournaments insist on playing on old, irrelevant versions.

Op i messaged you about a serious flaw in your rules and procedures.
|
Nice walkover cup, apparently if you report a walkover, play the next opponent, you can screw over the person you walked over and "admins can't do anything about it."
Interesting rules there.
Some kid "forbes" reports a walkover after me telling him i'm in an IG cup game lmao -> he wins? ...awesome

You weren't able to play your ZOTAC Cup match in time. We have defwin time for the first two rounds and your opponent may was a little childish to demand one against you.
But fact was, that you were playing another tournament during the ZOTAC Cup and you weren't able to finish your IG cup match during defwin time. So we have no other choice than kick you out.

ROOT vs ROOT final, pretty neat.
Well played by both Slush and Drewbie.
Catz also making the top 4, potentially third place, not sure if they actually streamed that though.

So I won my first round but how do I report it? My first zotac cup but I only see report loss and report no show.

Should I just report he never showed and get the win that way? Or does he have to report his loss? This is frustrating.

I think he was refering to a Battle Net channel which we do not have ingame btw. If you need help write a support ticket at the website. You can find your opponent's nickname and character code in his profile on the tournament website in the top right corner. So just add him at Battle.Net and arrange your match
By the way: The check-in for tonight starts in a few minutes. GL HF everyone!

on Saturdays us zotac who was playing in mvp.genius account?

Monster was playing with his account on the NA Server. You can check out matches and replays on sc2charts.net. Really awesome page with progamer ranking (newer system than ELO), matchticker, matchbets and replays up2date, esspecially for the ZOTAC Cup. Our admins cover the matches and upload replays on the fly
Check-In for tonight will be open as usual for one hour at 21:00 GMT (+00:00). Attention: In Europe the clock was already set back one hour due to daylight saving but in North Amercia it will happen Sunday night - so Tournament start is 15:00 PDT, 23:00 CET and 07:00 KST -> Check In here!

Never playing in one of these again. I was exactly 15 minutes late to the semifinals, the admin said I could play if my opponent allowed, the casters wanted to cast us, and my opponent, xSixPegasus, refused to play me because he "doesn't have time" aka he wants a free win. What a joke.

xsixpegasus? is gggalaxy playing on that account again? if so he shouldnt ever be playing on na tournies
|
Hey. I am just throwing out some facts here:
Pegasus quarter final was finished at 17:27 PST goswers quarter final was finished at 17:49 PST the semifinal Pegasus vs. goswer was closed 18:11 PST
So it was 22 minutes after the match was created in the grid (7 minutes longer than normal defwin time). By participanting in a tournament, you are automatically accepting its rules. We are always willing to talk to players and increase the defwin time, if they get in touch with us. But if a player just leaves after a finished quarter final without talking to us, we have to make a decision at some point
---
ANYWAY. Check-In is still open for another 12 minutes GGHF to all participants!
|
After some thrilling IEM action this weekend, it is your time to play like a boss! The 42th ZOTAC NA Cup will start in about 10 hours, so don't miss to take part or check out zander's stream.
