If you know the results, keep it to yourself please. Be nice to those who don't want to be spoiled.
Thanks! |

Actually IPL didn't give us any direction on the casting. But this is IGN's outlet for SC2. Which means there is amazing potential to bring in NEW AUDIENCE (because their audience is so large across the board). In these cases, it only makes sense to introduce some "crap noobie talk" to the games. I can understand why people who are used to "hardcore" commentary think this is "worthless and tiresome"... but I also understand why it's necessary to make sure this type of content goes beyond the hardcore and into the hands of someone who may not understand everything going on.
I used to get these same kind of complaints back in Quake when I would take the opportunity to discuss the damages of various weapons or how much a yellow armor is worth and why it's important to control it.
Anyway, not putting down your comment, just trying to explain why you'll be hearing "crap noobie" tidbids throughout the IGN casts that come from me.

You have to watch the first game of a set until the end, and it will automatically load the next one.
But still, pretty bad VOD setup, and very slow servers.

well just watched the whole shebang from the vods because i couldn't stay awake that long.. really love the production value of the ipl all around with the cute drawings and especially the average game stats after each map
only weak point i could think of was the casting situation
i hope you will get casters to commentate in pairs for next season , preferably 2 people that complement each other with 1 "analyst" and 1 "play-by-play" guy casting together (i know vague but i hope you get the point) because either type solo casting is way less enjoyable to watch imo.

This doesn't happen to me. At the end of a game I just get an option to play again, and then after 10 seconds or so the pop-up window just closes.
By going into HD mode and then looking at the list of games on the right I was able to select game 2 of the Catz Agh matches but game 3 still eludes me. Oh well, I guess if you've seen one proxy hatch you've seen them all
Anyway I've spent a while trying to figure out this VOD page but it's not worth the hassle. I'd rather pay to watch GSL, at least I know it will work smoothly.

Loved djWHEAT and TotalBiscuit today. Great job guys, really entertaining games! It was super high production quality too, with smooth fps. The VOD page is a little strange though. The VODs are not shown in as high a resolution as they could be when you view them from the IPL videos page. You have to click the HD button, but then that reloads the VOD in a weird frame from a different page. It allows you to watch in higher resolution, but inside the awkward frame you have to navigate to watch game 2 and game 3 of a series and it's just really annoying. If the VODs played in HD by default it would be much better. Right now I don't really understand it.

TotalBiscuit great job again! The best solo commentator IMO. Tastosis would have to be the best dual commentator setup followed very closely by DJWheat & Day[9]. You guys are all great and we appreciate your hard work and efforts

Just watched the Fenix Idra matches and wow, very nice production, flawless sound and streamin, very nice.
Only the presentation on the site of said vods could be better as I was now forced to spoil myself (!) when I was looking for game 2 and 3 .
Edit: Ah silly me, if you watch the entire vod you get the next game at the end . Oh well, lesson learned .

Agreed, hardcore players shouldn't have to listen to commentary to learn things anyways. Having commentators break down things like this is a key way of getting new people/fans into the game, great job last night.

I might not have put my kids gloves on before trying to drop some things I thought could use improving, but I feel that if you can handle some real talk you can find some useful ideas in my posts. The main one I'd like to make notice of is just this quote. If you could just take one thing from my posts this would be it.

I appreciate you listening to us. TB and Wheat. It makes a huge difference to those of us who care about the community and even if I may not like your casting, I do respect you taking the time to respond. Even if some of us were a bit more annoyed and showed it :b

VOD Information:
To watch an entire set spoiler free, click on the set you want to watch on our video page. After a match finishes playing, it will load the next one!
If you want to find a particular match, go to the bracket, click on the set you want to see, and all of the match videos will be displayed there!
The VOD page is a continuing project and we are listening to your feedback, so we will be updating and changing it, I am watching our engineers working on it right now. Please continue to give feedback during this process, and thanks for all of the feedback so far!

You might want to be a bit more clear on how to watch spoiler free. The recent/upcoming matches links on the 'home' page start the spoiler free embedded player. The 'video' page leads to the video archive, the links in there open op the pop-up player which does show the amount of games in the set.
The thumbnail mouse-over feedback on the video also suggest different behavior depending on whether you click the thumbnail or the 'play' icon in the top left corner of each thumbnail but they react the same.

I agree with the addition of set boxes to click or making it clear how to go between various sets (right now I'm starting at the first and having to move the timer to the end to get the 2nd game etc).

I have some quick feedback after viewing the Idra vs. Fenix series on VOD.
- I like the animated intros and post game stats and all that stuff. It's unique to IGN and I feel like it gives this league it's own flavor.
- I like that all the players are playing on the NA server. Lag won't come up as an issue.
- I found it very difficult to navigate to the VODs. I'm used to GOMTV's setup and I like it. I would rather see something like that.
- My internet isn't that great so I always watch SQ. It was already hard to navigate to the VODs but I had an even harder time finding out if I was watching SQ or not. It also kinda lagged for me, not sure if it was the site or me but I can usually watch GSL SQ without hiccups.
- I can't stand TotalBiscuit. Sorry. I feel like he has 0 game knowledge. He's just telling me what I'm seeing. I guess that may be ok for a casual viewer but I've been playing since the beta and I've watched and purchased every GSL ticket since season 1. He just doesn't appeal to me.

I think there should be 2 casters in each game, that's all.
One good play-by-play (Like TB) and another analytical caster (Incontrol, Day9, Artosis, TLO, others)
|
I can't find any brackets... are there any

I wish the VODs let you preload the entire video instead of stopping at a certain point. Its quite annoying while watching a VOD I have to stop the video again to allow the video to preload up to a certain point. Oh, and easier navagation to individual games.

The player intro voice over sounds really silly, but other than that I don't have any complaints.
