It really goes to a whole other level.
I guess I'm lucky that my wife watches the Stream with me, she's actually the one that Bought the Pass.
though you can't really complain that a commentated event you are listening to on speakers wakes up the person sleeping in the same room as you.

the one thing ensnare could have and should have done is get a better army composition before engaging but he maxed out too fast
he needed way more vikings, a few ghosts although not necessarily crucial, but the vikings would have minimized damage a lot against a phoenix/collossus heavy build
again, that map is still heavily protoss favored in the lategame imo just by the fact that he was able to turtle up so easily
mass medivac drop is not that hard to clean up when you have that many collossus, and incontrol isn't stupid enough to take his entire army for just 2 medivacs
But the way ensnare played his bio, it was pretty much like mech. He wasnt mobile with it, and he let inc back into the game. He should've been constantly harassing/dropping, using the mobility of the bio to his advantage, instead of being passive.

I am not sure if he is trying to copy Korean commentator's style from SC1, but it ain't working for him. Diggity's style on the other hand is very smooth and calm, really enjoyed his commentating, definitely one of the best there is. Also that random commentator with strong European accent felt very unprofessional for a big events like this. Also I would not buy a NASL pass if this gretorp guy keeps casting, it ruins the experience knowing how good it could be with Diggity casting.
Sometimes he goes soft and fairly quiet other times there is an explosion of noise, its not good for a caster to go to 2 extremes so often, i turn up my volume then all of a sudden HOLY SHIT! its way too loud and my roomate is complaining at me. Ive never had this problem with any other casts / casters.
I just generally dont like gretorps style of casting i think he seems like a really nice guy but just isnt cut out for the job especially for a new league that is trying to impress and become the next big thing for esports in NA, if they had higher quality casters such as Diggity replacing gretorp it would be much better , I dont mind incontrols casting at all, i mean its not the best thing ever but he is fairly good at analysis his joking side is actually pretty funny and i think he could have some really good back and forth with a more experienced caster that could teach him a thing or two.

He was out on the map with it quite a bit, he just didnt get anything done with it, what he was doing was looking for the opportunity to get something done and it really never came, he pushed up to inc's base at the right time originally but he could really get much done, he attacked with 2 medivacs at different locations but it didnt pull incs army back enough, had it done so we would be talking about a different result right now. What he should have done in that same time window is unloaded 2 medivacs at each location making it enough of a threat for incontrol to move back, and he shouldnt have shown his army at the front of the base, had incontrol just though he was going for 2 heavy medivac drops he would have for sure pulled his whole army back, he defenetly suffered heavily fromm 1 control group syndrome in that game. All in all i think ensnare played a much more solid game, he just didnt make / find the right opportunity. I mean his macro is clearly alot better and his base timings are very precise as well. If those two meet up again i would still put ensnare in my liquibet i just think he didnt abuse his mobile army enough had he gone for a more tech heavy route with the same expansion timings and solid macro he would have been the clear victor in that match but alass he didnt.

Man, 8 rax shut down by 2 force fields. Ensnare couldn't be aggressive because he would just keep getting his army cut in half by 2 force fields at a time on the ramp. Then he had invested so much into barracks his medivacs were extremely late, not to mention he barely had any supply room left for Vikings, which were also very late and practically non-existent.
Basically, I think he got himself into an unwinnable situation by maxing so fast on tier 1 units with no way to attack.

He should've suicided some units trying to do econ damage so he could get more vikings/ghosts

There was one... actually two ways to attack and to quickly empty like all of the sentries energy when ensnare was at 150 supply and incontrol at 100: attack up the ramp and flank from incontrols 3rd base. even if incontrol pulls back deep into his natural, ensnare has got actual surface area on the protoss base/army (read: cant be ff'ed as easily) and it denies the 3rd base of incontrol - he just did not use his economic advantage and let incontrol get back into or actually donated the game by engaging the way he did.
Btw Diggity, i became a fan of you tonight. Good job.

I thought Diggity was great tonight and I though Gretorp showed significant improvement as well.

Does anybody know if there will be some other payment options for the NASL in the future? Like PayPal??? thx
|
Diggity and Khaldor were fantastic tonight. It'd be great if they were available for the finals!
|
They should use some of the production money to warp ripple the air in the empty seat to create the appearance of a cloaked caster.
|
Is there somewhere on the NASL website where it shows how long it will be until the re-stream starts? Just got home and I'd like to check out tonight's games.
|
I can't help but think that one (well timed, but pro's should be able to do such) EMP would have snuffed the sentries ability to FF at that ramp in game 3 Ensnare/iNcontroL. That would have made it GG right there I think.

Wait, wait...Terran can't possibly make Some bio early and Some Mech later... Thats impossible right? oh wait the "imba" protoss deathball is made of units from 3 different structures... sorry Terrans... L2P please then cry about balance.

I love the NASL league! And i want to watch it all the time, but it needs improvements and i'd love to see them sooner rather than later. Here is my personal feedback on the things i would like to be better:
Sound! I have no idea how does nasl crew keep screwing the sound.T_T The problem started all the way back to the first GCPL league. The microphones and settings that are being used are not good for the ear. The caster levels are different at times, Gretorp gets too loud at one time or is to low at another. The in-game music is missing or (too quiet?) sometimes. Maybe ask for help from a sound tech or something.
Downtime! Why is there downtime when the cast is pre-recorded? Maybe im wrong here and the downtime was because of the encoding issues that they had earlier? I dont know but it feels like an eternity staring at the intermision screen. >.>
Casting! Lots of posts before me discuss the casting. I personally think is satisfactory for now, but it needs a lot of work to have the casting archon meld that tastless/artosis and djwheat/day9 have. For the people that dont know English is the 3rd language of Gretorp (as far as i know) so its understandable that he does weird mistakes and uses weird phrases that should not be there. He needs to have more professional manner of speaking in my oppinion nad he REALLY needs to work on his sound levels when casting. It will be hard to overcome those things but i think that if he wants to improve he will improve. Diggity is a profesional and is perfect as always, maybe not very excited but he was probably tired. Khaldor for those that dont know is the best German caster in the word and English is his second language and even though i dont speak a hint of german i watch his casts, i think he is great. Incontrol was good at his first cast but i think he was a little bit nervous - some of his jokes werent as good and he had some weird moments but overall he was good. And i think he needs to avoid the teaching when he is casting but this is a personal preference.
Camera! The starting of the game brings us the lobby and when the loading screen hits the stream the camera returns to the casters... Why? I can see the casters feel weird, and we the viewers feel weird watching them staring at the screens in weirdness... Its just weird. The in game camera needs a korean observer lesson. Staring at a not moving overlord in a 3rd unoccupied expansion for 25 seconds or going back to select a gateway in the middle of the decisive battle is just not good. Maybe start using the fancy new features for the observers that blizzard implemented. I guess that one of the casters is controlling the camera and is just not that experienced yet but i would like it if its better. ;D
Art! Maybe its just me but the backgrounds of the studio seems plain to me. Maybe get some sponsor logos in there ;P. And i would love if some of the player photos get better ( i know nerds and cameras dont work well together but it should be a requirement for a pro gamer to have better photos), like the team EG photos.

gretorp makes me feel uncomfortable for him. His interview with grubby... the look on his face way beyond creepy.

This thing will be the end of me....

The downtime is there because people actually need to go get some snacks/toilet/smoke/other things normal people need to do. Not everyone is able to sit completely still for 5 hours, and you wouldnt want to miss anything do you?
|
Incontrol should cast with Diggity as much as possible. If Diggity isn't available then it would be Incontrol and Gretorp I guess. But Gretorp needs to change a few things to get better at it:
-no screaming, unless something EPIC happens -not calling everything amazing, when it's not -not share insight about games that just doesn't make sense -talk more fluently, it looks like he is behind in his mind when he speaks, just think about what you want to say when Incontrol is talking -don't predict things wrongly all the time, he can't look in the future and we don't expect him to -he has a good voice for it, but all in all needs to improve a LOT.
Oh and don't let Khaldor co-cast again. It's very awkward that he isn't in the studio and his commetary just isn't professional enough. Plus him not being natively english means his vocabulary is quite limited and it shows. Also he was often telling us that a pylon was being built. That's just bad bad commentary.
|
Today was noticeably better; I hope NASL production will improve over the next week and come into it's own. I'm still waiting for a Diggity/Klazart commenting duo though, I would pay $50 for that
