I challenge any one and everyone that believes MC cannot win a "real game" to go play him.

Just try. And ya know what? You wont see his late game, cause his pressure will kill you.

Honest question - Did White Ra build a zealot first in any game that series?

I don't remember one.

Can't say I'm a fan of PvP either, but for being what it was it was kind of exciting. Don't care about all-ins, they seem legitimate in that matchup atm.

White-Ra is pretty much Immortal Toss. Forever great.
Lee Jae Dong proved that a focus on mechanics and execution could solve problems in the StarCraft game strategy.

The proxy was insanely risky. Well-deserved win for MC.

Were they playing on plain Shakuras Plateau, not MLG or TSL? It didn't look like the ladder version, and they did spawn cross positions. I haven't seen any of the other games from today, so sorry if this has been covered already.

the tournament was just phenomenal, i really like the concept of the show. no comparison to mlg oder different torunemants. there was a lot of action, no long pauses and one evening is definitly enough for a tournament. the line up of competetors was great and the bo3 system was okay. it is a bit sad for the players that its only bo3 single elimination, but for the viewers it was quite fine, because there is a straight cup tree, clear results and no missunderstandings/disappointments about rules. (for example the 0-2 lead at mlg for incontrol and kiwikaki against tlo/socke in the looserbracket semifinal)
the caster "archon" was competent and 2gd was great like always

i really liked it.

Someone come up with something interesting in PvP please... Such an incredibly bad MU its not even worth watching ever again.

It's still left in the same state of developement that it was in the early beta... so incredibly stale and boring, especially if one of the players decides to never go past 1 base (which is a perfectly fine choice due to how the MU works currently).
Such a snorefest that not even Ra vs MC can make me raise an eyebrow.

From a spectator PoV, PvP is shit. It's less than 5% of the entertainment value of all the other MUs for me.
Bleh.

Incorrect. Sports should be played to win, hence there being a shitton of sports not on your main stream television because they are not all enjoyable to watch, but they are still enjoyable to play. There are only a dozen or so major sports on television whereas there are hundreds maybe thousands of sports in the world.

If you are not entertained by strategy games where people play to win then so be it. Don't come up with an imaginary statement of fact to justify your own opinions.

Can't we be sad that our favorite lost?

Being sad that the awesomeness that is White-ra lost is one thing. Openly flaming and berating the person that beat him is another thing. Have we plunged so far into the depths that we have lost the ability to be civil?

And if Starcraft ll tournament finals continue to be like this, it will go the way of one of the "hundreds maybe thousands of sports", and professional Starcraft ll gaming will disappear incredibly quickly thanks to absolutely no interest.

Props for sticking to your guns, but this kind of play is not healthy to Starcraft ll E-sport growth, and if the meta-game doesn't change, or if Blizzard doesn't patch something, I feel we'll soon be saying goodbye to professional Starcraft ll gaming.

I didn't forget this. But I also listen when players like MC promise entertaining games. There is pride involved in the way you win as much as the win itself. My frustration comes from the lack of showmanship. I want to see their mid and late game PvP (does that even exist?!) and MC knows that while he won, he did not win how a God would win. He won like a mere mortal, reverting to cheesy 'strategic' play.

He gets the check, get gets the W. WhiteRa gets my respect though.

Are you a protoss? Do you understand how annoying PvP is? A high level masters player can lose a PvP to a diamond level player just because of a build order coinflip. MC is as close as there is to a PvP god, but certain things beat him. For instance, second game, because there's an observer versus observer war and MC doesn't want to lose his, he won't be scouting, so he wouldn't see WhiteRa's ballsy expansion that dies to any pressure or scouting. WhiteRa cut a ton of corners and took huge risks to win his games, because he knew he had to do that to win. If that probe hadnt gotten in he was completely dead. If that expand got scouted earlier, he was completely dead.

Then people try to insult MC for playing one base protoss? Because if he expanded and it's scouted, the opponent comes in without that 400 mineral drain, and without the drain of making more probes, and rolls him over with a superior army. HERP DERP. They insult MC for proxy 2gating, when WhiteRa plays greedy, scouts late, doesn't check his own base, and always skips the first zealot for a fast stalker?

People who are whining must know nothing about protoss. People who say that WhiteRa is the obviously better player are just deluding themselves through fanboyism. He took huge risks that he knew he had to take after getting 3-0'd in the TSL. MC decided to allow him no opportunity to cut corners, and when WhiteRa had pressure on him he as unable to cut corners without outright dying.

Maybe you just shouldn't watch Esports if you have zero appreciation for the best strategies winning just because it doesn't involve 200 units with shiny graphics. What I say today was a battle of minds and MC clearly came ahead by being the most unpredictable and well rounded player. As such I'm impressed and I don't need to see 5 games of colossus wars for that to be the case.

sensational production value, NASL and MLG have a lot to live up to.

Is it so much to ask to just enjoy one hell of an amazing day of starcraft 2? I mean Dreamhack just shattered my expectations of this tournament. NASL has to be entertaining, thats it.

This is apples to freshly planted watermelon. Why are you compairing somthing like Dreamhack, with permanent infrastructure (held in the same place every year, no portability needed) to something like NASL or MLG.

MLG is massive, and lower production value. It will get to a dreamhack level some day, but not soon. NASL is a baby, just starting. It's trying to do great things but does not need to live up to a convention with roots and tons of backing.

Please please please just enjoy Startcraft action and not over inflate your expectations.

doing something you've never done before isnt genius. doing something based on what someone else usually does isnt genius either.

Pretty sure MC's done a few proxies in GSL?

Not sure if he has or not, but I'd like to point out that in a STRATEGY game doing something you've never done before based on something you know your opponent does every time actually is genius and well thought out. People raging over cheese clearly weren't around for bw when boxer bunker rushed yellow three times in a row people cheered it was amazing and one of the most memorable finals in all of e-sports. Using cheese in calculated sets is GOOD, of course no one wants to see bitbybit style cheesing ever single game but in a bo5 throwing in one cheese when you know your opponent is unlikely to scout it early enough and won't blindly hard counter it is a smart thing to do...

In short I'm honestly disgusted with the state of LR threads recently its all balance qq and biased rage..

Uh, people were rather angry about the finals when they happened. The bunker rush, I mean.

Well, enjoy collecting all the nerd tears shed over cheesing, when almost everyone who bitched about cheese here probably cheesed in their life before.
