As much as this blows for us to sit and listen to talk about absolutely nothing, it's gotta suck for Day9 and Wheat to try to think of shit to talk about while they wait an interminably long time for players to set up, as well..

No man. They're already set up (the players) thats why this is so infuriating. They're playing right now while the commentators are forced to talk about stupid shit because of MLG.

The irony behind all of this was the hate MLG garnered at the first event with sc2 when they had a small pool of players. Everyone bitched at them for not making it the premier event immediately. When they responded that they did not want to add everything at once to make sure it runs smoothly, they were again met with the venomous attitude of TL elitists.

You guys are ridiculous, were you there when sc:bw first began in S korea? you are comparing their events in quality when one has had YEARS to perfect their system. MLG, whether you like it or not, was the first major tournament to feature SC in the U.S., there are going to be kinks, especially since there is no lan functionality.

Naniwa is still setting up, this isn't gsl with one game being played at a time. They have to pick matches to observe. this isn't gsl, how do people not see the huge differences between them? Or the differences between MLG and online tourneys? It is three days with a massive player pool, together with dozens of consoles and separate streams being played at the same time.

I sort of agree with what you wrote. People need to give MLG a bit more slack with certain things. Of course the weekends tournament has been quite aweful indeed but it's not the end of the world even though you might get that impression reading this thread.

HOWEVER
There are just some things fundamentally wrong with the way MLG's tournaments are held.
- Only a small percentile of the games are ever shown
- The VODs are never uploaded in reasonable time, and most of them are never uploaded at all.
- It's impossible to keep track of the tournament progress. Double elimination being a bit harder to follow than single elimination isn't too bad, but at least post official brackets where people can find them and update the scores regularly... If it wasn't for TL.net it would be impossible for me to keep track of anything.

All of this isn't start up issues. It's just MLG focussing on the totally wrong things :s

So how come IEM or dreamhack makes it work, magic?

How many streams? how many locations? how many events a year? This is not that difficult to understand. I agree with the prior poster on what they need to work on, as well as needing to fix plenty of other things. What is stupid are the unreasonable whiners who fit the raging nerd stereotype too well.

It's insane how terrible this Tournament is setup. I have seen about 4 or 5 dropped games because of internet issues on their side. I have seen commentators talk for hours and hours, telling nothing but bullshit, just filling up time. I have seen streams crashing because their internet is terrible.

SelecT really loves abusing Metalopolis...

If they're gonna prevent close ground on metal they should prevent close air too.

get lost

What? Close air metal is just as imba as close ground.

Ideally they'd just get rid of that crappy map tho.

Ouch. No zerg in the final 6 - incoming balance flame wars?

Then again, some of the strongest zerg in the game aren't at MLG. Surely you'd see zerg in the last 6 if Nestea or Fruitdealer were involved.

Don´t think LAN would help this tournament very much... I ´ve never seen more dc:s in any tournament ever. And, no, B-net is not down and hasn´t been as long as I´ve watched.

It would help because its the connection from Dallas. If there was LAN and Dallas internet died the game would still go because its LAN!

Stream would still be fucked though.

lan = lot less bandwidth used = more bandwidth for stream

Nope.
