Coming into GSL 5, I think it was Protosses were pretty weak compared to the other two races (the ratio of players in Code A were overwhelmingly Zerg and Terran). It was the case in GSL3 also. In both instances, Protosses did well (2 in semis in GSL3, 3 in GSL5). Maps also had a bit to do with it as bigger maps seemed to favor Protoss a lot. While hopefully, the new smaller maps Dual Sight and XN Fortress are used in this GSL and sort of limit Protoss's advantage, it's best to see how the metagame evolves than to keep hoping for a balance patch. Patch is still new, people take time to learn new builds. EDIT: Also note that the qualifiers were played on the old map pool of Xelnaga Caverns/Metalopolis/Scrap Station. Since then, the only buff to Protosses were the Phoenix and Observer buffs (although there were significant Terran nerfs). Just shows, it's not about imbalances or anything, it's just that people are developing newer builds. | ||

Anyways, not surprising to see that many protoss players qualifying after the patch. They're the new terran, so half of them will disappear after protoss is brought back in line. | ||

Code S: Terran - 14, Protoss - 10, Zerg - 8 Code A Terran - 13, Protoss - 12, Zerg - 7 so i dont see the problem with that many protoss qualifiers only zerg being under represented | ||
