Edit 3/12: BYOC(Bring your own Computer) Cyberzone has plenty of room for BYOC, they have all the necessary things for it. So if you want your own machine please bring it.
Rules and Regulations Tournament format: The Arizona Craft Cup will be run in a swiss format. There is no elimination in a swiss format. There will be 4 rounds of bo3. Each round you will be paired with an opponent and given a random map to start. After the first round, the loser will pick the next map and so on till the bo3 is over. After the bo3 the top players will then be put into a bracket and will play out the finals rounds which will be in a bo5 format.
Tardy rule: Since we are running a swiss tournament, we cannot start a new round till all of the players have finished the current round. Any player who is more than 30 minutes late to a round will receive a forfeit loss for that round. No exceptions.
Map Pool will consist of the current map pool -Xel Naga -Delta Quadrant -Backwater Gulch -Metalopolis -Slag Pits -Typhon peaks -The Shattered Temple -Scrap Station
Technical Difficultys: Any drop occurring before the 10 minute mark will result in a rematch using the same map. Any other drop will be reviewed by the tournament admin.
Tournament Etiquette: Good tournament Etiquette will be required. Excessive profane language in an aggressive manner, any violence, or other similar behavior may result in disqualification.
Reporting Results: All tournament players are required to report their result. Failure to report a result may end up in a forfeit for that round. Officiating: Tournament admins have authority over all decision making, all participants must obide by rules/decisions or they may face disqualification.
Registration: I need you to post the following information in this thread as well as sending an email to abauten@asu.edu Real name User Name/Identifier League/rating Race
I am looking forward to this event!!!!!!!
I am getting some questions about how the finals are going to play out. So let me fill you in.
After the four rounds of swiss the top 6 players will make it into our ro6 playoff. The top two seeds of this 6 will get byes while the other 4 play off. Then the two top seeds play the winners of the other play off rounds. Then we will have our final.
Can a mod please rename topic thread to Arizona March Open please. Dont want to have trouble with craft cup guys. Im sry, I did not mean to copy the name.
awww shiittttt. I would totally go to this if it were Saturday, Sunday is the last day of my spring break and I don't know if I'll be leaving Phoenix Sunday or Monday.
Not sure what race I'll be playing or what an accurate ranking is for me since I haven't even played since the patch and I have a 4 figure bonus pool.
I would like to recommend a method for choosing maps. I think it'd be awesome if we could take turns veto'ing maps til theres just one left for map 1, then loser picks but give each player a veto. This way we wont end up playing scrap station and delta quadrant in every ZvT etc like last time.

Hmmm, il consider that. Right now the starting maps will be selected randomly for each round. and then the loser will pick the next map and so on.
A week and a half guys!!! Going to be sick!!! Im not even playing since im running the tournament and im hyped!
Just to let you know, we will have games being streamed so you can have your mom, dad, uncle, former cousin, or your girlfriend watch you play from the cozyness of their own home.
Should we bring our computers? It kinda sucked last time setting up on a new computer for every game. Anyone else wanna actually get a bunch of games in if I bring mine?

Yes there is plenty of room for BYOC. Updated this in main thread just now as well.
I'm going to show off LAN inexperience real quick. It's normal to bring your own mouse and/or keyboard correct? There's no eyerolling or sighing as someone sets up their own gear before playing, right?

Yeah, it is. Once you get used to your own keyboard/mouse setup, it is extremely uncomfortable to play on a different setup.

nah most ppl bring mouse/keyboard and some even bring their whole rigs. playing on unknown gear is pretty rough.
also, im coming from Queen Creek (far east valley) so if anyone needs a ride from that area feel free to PM
Holy Shit Idra is gonna be there! OMG Nerdgasm. LOL I may have to hold off my first wakeboarding trip of the summer to go see this. Fuck I may even play just to hope I can get rolled by Idra.
Hey guys. I just moved out to phoenix this month to finish out my schooling, (Goodyear to be exact) Seems like a good chance to meet some people and game a bit. I'll see yall there!

Are you going to be playing?
I'm still new to the game but quite addicted anyways. just hoping to learn some stuff and meet some people since i'm new to the area..... Screw it Ill play. Will be fun.
Is it possible to come just to watch and not enter, or would I have to pay an entry fee regardless? Money's pretty tight right now for me and as a silver zerg I'd just get rolled anyway so I can't justify entering the tournament (though if I had the money to spare I'd probably enter and get rolled anyway just for the experience), but I'd love to come just to watch this event if spectating is free.
Also, to Mistaclean, I also went to and got a Bachelors in Computer Science at ASU a couple years ago, but I refuse to represent as I've yet to get a single job with my degree -_-
Usually CZ allows people to come in and relax, but if you log onto a computer they will charge you, I am not sure if they changed their policy since its been about 8 months since I was there last.
The internet there I believe is a T1 line or something (it has been a while since I asked or saw it posted). It runs fast enough that you should be able to stream them no problem.
That was tons of fun. It sucks I had to leave early, but it was still great. I will definitely attend future events, hopefully getting less ZvPs next time~ Props to Andrew for hosting a cool LAN.
IdrA takes the first game on XelNaga Caverns. Blue Flame harass by PhiliBiRD failed horribly with IdrA getting a great surround. His cloaked banshees did a ton of damage but IdrA was already in macro mode, and just dominated from there with his huge muta + ling/bling army.
You guys can count me in for the next event. I stopped by today just to shake IdrA's hand lol, if i had known about it earlier i would've worked it into my study schedule.
Was really fun tonight, hope we get some more AZ tl lurkers to come next time! we need more ppl!!!!!! Took a picture with IdrA which was super awesome. Pictures were taken by a guy and somone said they will be posted on TL
awesome tournament, can't believe I made it to final 6, 4th overall. Great being able to meet some of the big names in Sc2, gives me more motivation to play harder.
sigh, sorry i missed out on this tournament. I signed up but something came up last minute and i wasn't able to compete. Glad to see idra win not that it was a surprise at all
Pictures will probably be put into a blog or something of that nature, il post on here when I get them uploaded. Was busy all day and will be tomm for most of it. But yes they will be up soon.
I'll tell you though from memory that the round of 6 had Philibird and Idra with Byes, and the two actual matches that took places were between Amalaxi- ONEGatored and SKU-...somebody
I'd show you the VODs but I think they've been deleted from the justintv thing (it autodeletes after a week and the guy who owns the channel completely didn't save it...tt)
