Most of the "favorites" were knocked out in pretty straight up games, their opponents were just better. As long as the games are better and more players are playing better, I'm happy. And there's no doubt at all that this GSL is different class compared to GSL Opens last year. Other than some memorable series back then, it's just so much better now. Balance and map changes might have played a role, but regardless I think players have just stepped it up and are generally playing a lot better. Quality seems to go up every month, and that's a great thing for such a young game. If players can't keep up, they'll fall behind (besides, people like FD, Rainbow and Maka have fallen behind a while ago, it's hardly a surprise anymore). As I've said in the last LR thread, people expect these players to fill in the roles Flash, Jaedong, Bisu and Stork have in BW and to see a clear difference in ability between them and lower end Code S players, but that just won't happen because NesTea, mvp, MKP & co aren't that much better than everybody else at all. Right now, it could easily happen that no top player today is considered top player at the same time next year - unless they improve MASSIVELY, because if they don't, somebody else will (tm).

I shall have to hope for it being Kyrix Back in GSL 4, lots opf players were saying on their interview how they thought playing against Anypro would be a thoug match, including MC, who was on his group saying that he would be his hardest oponnent, regardless of having 2 toss and Nada on his group. MC was a similar case, everyone said he ws good, but he was underpeforming on the GSL1 and 2. I just think it's a bit crazy to be calling stuff like best player in the world and certain player unbeatable only after 4/5 months of GSL.

This GSL season is very exiting! I mean..suuuuure crowd favourites are being knocked out, but they are being knocked out in solid macro games with almost no cheese in them. Or in other words, this GSL season has been almost all macro, exacly like people wanted.

They played a no-cheese-game in Taladrim Altar. But that shortness of your list speaks for itself, IMHO ![]()

I wake up every day to just see utter chaos in the brackets, and it makes me feel like there are a lot of really great players who have a big name or have no name at all based on just a few televised games. Finally some of the underdogs are showing some promise so that the early rounds won't be some kind of foregone conclusion; this can do nothing but strengthen the quality of the tournament going forward. Same here. The current tournament setup may be unforgiving but for a game that's so new, it is very appropriate. I eagerly await the day where a true sc2 bonjwa will tame the scene.
