TeamSpeak TL SC2 Open #4 The first TeamSpeak TeamLiquid SC2 Open (and 4th overall) kicks off today. This tournament will have a $200 prize pool and will be be held on the EU server. The early rounds will be cast by commentators like Ragequit and orb, and the semifinals and finals by Chill and djWHEAT.
With a lot of the top Europeans at DreamHack, this will be a good chance for lesser known players to make a name for themselves. Past TL Open finalists include Select, Strelok, Lalush, AhhBoxxah, and Optikzero. If you missed some of those matches, check out TL's YouTube Channel for previous casts.
This will be the first of 12 tournaments sponsored by TeamSpeak, so we hope our community takes some time to support them and try out their program. The initial TeamSpeak TL SC2 Open Series announce can be found here, and includes some words from TeamSpeak's Peter Kirk.
About Our Sponsor The TeamLiquid SC2 Open is proudly sponsored by TeamSpeak Systems GmbH, developers of popular TeamSpeak voice chat software for online gamers and now, with their latest TeamSpeak 3 SDK product, virtual worlds and integrated solutions. TeamSpeak enables groups of people to speak with one another over the Internet using their Windows, Mac, or Linux based computer, much like a telephone conference call. A TeamSpeak user will typically wear a headset with an integrated microphone and connect to his guild or clan's TeamSpeak server to chat with fellow team mates, discuss strategy in real-time, or facilitate online events.
TeamSpeak 3 features include: a global web server list, tabbed multi-server connectivity, tabbed text chatting, firewall friendly file transfer, user avatars, friends lists, and a fully customizable client UI supporting skins, sound packs, and plugins. TeamSpeak Systems GmbH is currently sponsoring a TeamSpeak 3 Addons Contest and giving away over $7,000 in cash and prizes, so go check it out! TeamSpeak is FREE to use for non-commercial entities.
If you are interested in sponsoring a TeamLiquid Open or one of our other events, please see our advertising / sponsorship page.

I'm actually pretty excited to see who will win this one, as there is no clear favorite since a lot of the big names are at DreamHack. Big opportunity for a lesser known guy to get some deserved exposure and prizes!
Awesome that you guys are putting these on. I'm always a big fan of all the open tournaments. I was surprised to see teamspeak as the sponsor cause I haven't heard anyone use TS for awhile. I guess I'll check them out =P
Yeah that's weird that TeamSpeak is the sponsor never knew people still used it.
I know that TeamSpeak is still popular in Europe, sometimes over Ventrilo, but its awesome nevertheless to see a big name sponsor for TL
yeh, teamspeak is a bit wierd, but i dont care. i hope for some nice games^^ and o course me, winning some...

I used TeamSpeak for a long time and it's still popular in Wow (On French servers only TS is used for raids).

There is but I think you're too late now. The tournament already started
Well, I lost already. Good luck to those left in the tournament.
lost a PvT..i blame steppes, damn tanks.... GL zergs though, steppes, blistering, DQ and Jungle basin in first 5 rounds....
pff steppes of war first round.. almost no chance against mass barrack scv rush..
i had a pretty fun 1st game unfortunately it was my only game lol

Dang, I had to play against Envious third round =/
I entered just for fun, never expected to reach Ro16! I am so excited, i want to get better and participate in more tournaments!
double post, sorry, my mistake
Nice build from Fuzer. 2rax attack but expand behind it on 18 workers. Not sure about Pheonix play that early either.
Oooooooooooh, Chill is casting! I love him. ^__^
Protoss has to make no mistakes to not lose to Terran in the early game. It's so infuriating to watch.
That defensive timing was so perfect. ^__^
Why didnt I know anything about this tournament -.,.-

Keep it up man. All us Bulgarians were cheering for you!

This Zerg is really awesome.
He makes me want to play the dirty race.
This Zerg needs to get a Spire already instead of being stupid against those drops.
26 kill marine.
He is the reincarnation of a collosus.
Also, the single marine at 12 o'clock took out the hatchery.
mutas woulda been useful... lol
Why didn't the zerg build a Spire? That was a pretty stupid move.
Jesus, a couple spines at each expo would have almost completely nullified the marines. He must have lost 50 drones to marine drops. I just don't understand some zergs.
The zerg really suffered from those drops, and then I mean that he really suffered from being under pressure at multiple points.
Him just letting very small amount of units just pick away at hatches/drones while his army was just moving around in 1 big ball was just painfull to watch.
And then it's obvious he can't deal with them in that way and he doesn't even get out a couple of muta's :/
I had higher hopes for his play from seeing the first game
he is everything else than bad mannered.
i casted about ~40 games of him altogether - hes not onsulting or soemthing like that - he pissed at himself when leaving a game and hes funny -
i think strong baneling bust should work here
nice crisis control from envious
funny that he blocked his own banelings from killing those supplies
I love me some banelings :D
is it just me or is there no link to the bracket oo
Why does djWheat stream lags when Chill is casting ;(
Are the replays from these games going to be available anywhere?
Edit: nvm, see them on the front page now.
These SCV all-in plays in TvT are pretty hilarious.
Haha! Terran receives a dose of his own medicine from a race picker. Hilarious. :D

lol, i beat the 4th placed guy twice today

Nerchio was pretty impressive
whoa random FTW!!
grats Nerchio
The level of play was really disappointing and I didn't know race picking was authorized. A little unfortunate that it came at the same time as Dreamhack there was nearly no big name.
At least to say there was Haypro AND i would like to thanks for such a great tournament ! bye and see you in next tour on Europe :D
Very nice tournament and casting
There weren't a lot of names on the list. Haypro, Kenzy and Capoch were the main 3 that jumped out at me. However, Nerchio is the one that took out Haypro so definitely not the easiest path to the finals.
congratulations nerchio! I havent seen all but there were some really nice moves to see in your games
Wow, gratz Nerchio. I watched his game with Haypro, and it was pure agression that won it for him. I guess as a random player you need to be agressive because you don't get nearly as much experience for lategame as each race.
Also, how many random players have won SC2 tourneys before?

Well done Nerchio; next step is GSL! haha - awesome to see a random player take it
so gzgz nerchio , always love to cast your games - and what won nerchio the game vs haypro was that haypro went for an attack 1st - so becasue of the time it takes for the roaches to reach the enemy base (so nerchio has some reinforcemnts faster) and the better concave for at least 1.5 secs wenn haypro ran up the ramp - it was enough for nerchio to win this game just by constantly reinforcing with roaches and pulling back in right time and ofc microing his low hp roaches out of the line of fire
but i dont like that everybody only talks about nerchio vs haypro (i love haypro such a mannered nice person! -) - we saw some entertaning games and i am not only talkin g about the semis/finals - i REALLY can everybody advice to watch the 1st game of fuzer vs drafter - i think in my opinion this is the most entertaning match of the whole tournament
so now im happy coz i casted games of joe and nerchio BEFORE they were even in round of 16 ! i just knew that both these gonna get far and im also happy that i got mentioned in the OP

Wow, random player. Gratz! BTW, will there be some kind of ranking system on TL tournaments too like in ESL tournaments?
HayprO was playing from Korea, and the latency is unplayable from there, just sayin
