there is 2 point you are missing
1. day9 knowledge
2. day9 practice partner are way better than HD practice regiment

A lot of players that are way better than Day9 never were A-. Day9 is popular with noobs. I don't want to hear from all these people that are new to Starcraft because of SC2 that Day9 is good. He stopped playing 1vs1 RTS in 2007. How is he any good at SC2?
Day9 has practiced SC2 against many pros, pros who you look up to, and won. Thats how we know that Day9 is good at SC2. And when Day9 was A-, the meta game was different. Regardless, you had to be at the top of your game to be A- at the time.

Day9 is superior player especially knowing his history compared to HD.
In my opinion he doesn't try to go pro is because he understands that he couldn't make it to top 5 non korean players since he is finishing his math major + has gf and is doing dailies, and he doesn't want to drop some of those things to play pro.

I'm kinda sad we are watching Bubba (no offense).

Man I know this is off topic but has the community as a whole really forgot who Day[9] is already? All these newish people questioning his skill need to go look up striderdoom in the WCG grand finals history, he never used the Day ID back then iirc. He could probably become a top NA player again no question if he rededicated himself to the competition side of the game, that stuff never leaves you. There are maybe 3 or 4 guys in this tournament who have accomplished more than Day[9] as a player.

Can we just give HD the MAJORMAJOR PROPS he deserves for doing this, when noone else is. If Day so chose he could have played at MLG too. Like Artosis at GSL. Personally that is one of the reasons for me that Artosis>Day.

Day[9] mentioned the backdoor!

Don't waste your time saying anything that is contrary even in the slightest to the Christ figure image that people have of Day9 You can say whatever you want...but if it's incredibly f'ing stupid, expect people to call you on it. I essentially said you can't be good at a game you don't play. That says nothing about your potential to be good at it I agree with that. I think your logic about Day9 not giving his smurf account away was really bad though. He wants privacy, and if he tells his rating, he is going to lose all that privacy because people will figure it out. His reasons for having a smurf acct are his own. But does absolutely no one knows his smurf? No other top player? It's either the best kept secret in the world then for no one to spill it even by accident, or he is planning on taking his smurf name to the grave. It's pretty insane when you can just set yourself to 'busy' like he has to do for his casting account every time he logs onto it. Why is it such a big deal for his playing account? and for the record Day was legitimately good at BW when he played it, I don't doubt he could be one of the best American players, he's just not at all dedicated or focused
Maybe because the pros want to protect his privacy? Can you imagine how many messages he would get if his smurf came out? Regardless of busy status maybe he wants to not have to go through 100 messages to find the people he actually wants to talk to. Sean just wants to play and get better and have fun. We know at least Gretorp and Huk know it because they've said they played him on ladder before.

None of you know how good Day9 is at SC2 since I don't think there've been many, if any public games seen since the HDH. I'm not saying HD is better. I'm not saying Day9 is better. I'm saying that since you're all talking out of your asses on the subject that you should consider dropping it unless you have evidence to bring up.
I agree.
Although he is/was listed to play in the HDH2. But there haven't been any updates for that tournament for 3 months now. It also doesn't help that he's casting every single non-Korean tournament known to man and can't exactly play and cast at the same time.

As huk and other pros says, the dont take tips from any other casters then Day9. But i guess that pros like to take tips from noobs that cant play.
lols at the flamers on day9s expertice and skill

Dude seriously stop. It's the same reason I have a smurf. When you get to be someone important (ie: not you) in the scene you get 1,000 messages a day from people that are your fans. I'm not where even close to popular as Day and I get 5-10 friend requests a day and about 30 unsolicited messages. Can you imagine him? Ever notice in his dailys he has 400 new massages all the time.
He does it for peace of mind I imagine so please just go away with this nonsense.

Ouch, iNcontrol vs Machine in round 4? Fun times.

Pro tip to the retards discussing caster skill levels, you cannot be a full time caster putting as much into the community as Day9 and be a pro gamer. That is the reason you won't see Idra, Huk or any other pro casting, you cannot do both. Secondly a player's mechanical skill is in no relation to understanding the game and being a good caster.

He had a really gimmicky style. Also, he doesn't play SC2 at all. At least HDStarcraft tries to compete and hang in there. Even if he makes basic RTS mistakes, he can still win as SC2 is an easy game. He is only popular because of Day9 daily. It's really sad to see that all these people new to SC think he's some really really good player.
Bad players don't qualify for WCG World Finals some 6 times, and winning WCG US multiple times. His A- or whatever isn't some fluke anyone can pull off.

The spire was placed before his lings scouted. That in itself may be a mistake but ultimately irrelevant to your point. Then why not cancel? Sunk cost? Just because a building isn't useful now doesn't mean it can't be useful later. The utility of getting those minerals/gas back < having the future flexibility. Making a spire when you see your opponent going mass thors is silly. He could have thrown down the infestation pit at that point and utilizied his neural parasite tactic much sooner.
You get 75% of the cost back which is 150/150. Basically one infestor; three roaches; etc. Not worth it, and once again, the utility of having that flexibility far outweighs having that money, especially when on three bases.
