Professional announcers wouldn't wear t-shirts and jackets. They would wear tuxedos, top hats, and a monocle at all times while casting SC2 tournaments. | ||

I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed. I've seen people win by having better macro, and I've seen people win by having better micro at critical junctures. That Caverns match was the first time I've seen someone win through pure iron-clad confidence in their own judgement. Right here, right now you are weaker. Commit. I was watching him run down that marine/tank push and in my mind I was seeing other players bailing out, pulling back - and he just stimmed again and went for the throat. And then there was the harassment. I've seen (and experienced, even in gold league) any number of hellion drops or banshee rushes, but I've never had a man turn up at my front door and say "Hi. I have an SCV and three marines and they're going to make your asshole look like a welly-end." It made a Thor drop look like something written in crayon. It's not that he played perfectly. That's kind of the point. It wasn't an antiseptic macro-fest, it was "I am going to get in your face and force you to make decisions faster than you can make them well. Readysetgo." All in all I was surprised and pleased to appreciate how varied the flavour of SC2 games can be. Here's looking forward to the rest of the tournament. | ||
