This tournament was very fun to watch. Socke definitely impressed me the most, especially in his game against drewbie. Should be nick named Never Give up Toss or something.

tourney was meh, I was happy about socke, but IEM was a hundred times better in almost every aspect.
MLG felt almost more like an random online tourney.

I felt we should of had more top quality games streamed to us, Incontrol vs machine, kiwikakis beastly road to the WB final etc, but overall was decent and enjoyable gj mlg and gratz to the winners.

Socke did great against Drewbie. His storms just barely kept him in the game, and actually started to catch him up. It was nothing short of amazing.

Way to go Socke, if you are reading this.

Also Congratulations to HuK, you were the one I was cheering for from the beginning.

IEM definitely produced a lot of very entertaining matches. IMO anyway. But really it's all about luck. You aren't always going to get 40+ minute long macro matches.

BUT they could've picked and choose which matches to cast better. Why show Tyler roflstomping Jetty when there is Incontrol and Machine match RIGHT THERE in the same round? And Socke vs Drewbie game 3 was definitely the highlight of the tourney. So exciting!

Other things they could've done better was show the audience and players more, to give us a better sense of what the event is like. Maybe give us a close up of a cute Korean girl and watch her cover her face with a piece of paper. We got a lot of talking heads during delays which they should've just cut to commercial or something instead of giving us the idea that the match would actually start soon.

But they got a lot right. The live blog was nice to keep track of the rest of the tournament, but that feature should've been on by default. I forgot to turn it on at one point. Great giving all the casters friggin sweat blazers (well except Husky, he got a sweater) to add that extra bit of professionalism. It was easy to find the stream and the schedule which was a problem for me for the IEM (right on the front page). And I said this before, but I like how most audio issues were addressed very quickly (Day9 talking too loud into the mic and then immediately his inbound was adjusted). During the interviews, the casters really need to shove that mic into the players mouths, half the time we couldn't hear them because of that.

In theory, the more opportunity you give the best players to play. The more often the best players will win. This is the main reason behind a double elimination tournament.

I really enjoyed InControl's matches and was rooting for him after the LZgamer victory.

Overall, I would of liked to see the casting jump around more. I think there would be more value in broadcasting more variety. Only doing 1 of a series then jumping into a nother series for game 2 and picking another series for game 2 of each round. Logistically, this would be a complete nightmare I know. I would just wanted more of it.

"A double-elimination tournament allows players to lose twice (usually two best-of-three sets) before being eliminated. This setup is likely the most common type of tournament format run for video games throughout the country, across any medium. Double elimination allows for more accuracy in results than single elimination."

http://www.mlgpro.com/content/related/214504/Double-Elimination-Brackets

"The double-elimination format has some advantages over the single-elimination format, most notably the fact that third and fourth places can be determined without the use of a consolation or "classification" match involving two contestants who have already been eliminated from winning the championship. Additionally, in a double-elimination format better teams are likely to progress further in the tournament. Suppose in a single-elimination tournament the best team plays the second best team in the first round - the second best team will be eliminated right away, having only played one game. Then, a more mediocre team with a more favorable seeding could potentially win several games, play the best team in the finals, and come away with second place. (Usually, good seeding would help avoid this, but it is an issue nonetheless.) A double-elimination tournament would allow the second best team to keep winning (in the loser's bracket) and eventually work their way back up to their rightful position of second place."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-elimination_tournament

Personally, I like Double Elimination tournaments more for the reasons mentioned by MLG and Wikipedia there. If you go versus IdrA in round 1, you're probably fucked over unfairly just by merits of seeding when you could have gotten a lot farther and potentially won big bucks.
