Australia vs Singapore Showmatch Southeast Asia Server Showcase
As a minor celebration of my 3000th post on Team Liquid, I thought I'd set up a little showmatch between two of the top nations competing on the Southeast Asia Battle.net server. Australia and Singapore share the top of the SEA ladder as two nations competing for the title of one of the strongest SEA regions. As well as this competitve rivalry our countries traditionally share a friendly relationship, due to British influence and a large number of Singapore ex-pats taking up a life down under. This makes these two insland nations the perfect choice for a friendly showmatch to let the rest of the world know what kind of players our humble server can produce. ![[image loading]](http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/3969/format.png) The format will be similar to a regular Nation Wars match, except that we are omitting the 2v2 component. This means there will be four 1v1 matches, each best-of-three, and a deciding ACE match if required. The loser will pick the next map. ProLeague style lineups will be used, with the player not being revealed until the previous match has completed. The ACE map will be a wildcard map chosen on the day out of the Blizzard maps on retail release. Also, players who lose the first map may pick any map from the Blizzard selection and are not restricted to those popularised during beta. ![[image loading]](http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/3350/schedulej.png) The games will be carried out on the 31st of July one after the other, live in-game and not cast from replays. Sorry to any US-based viewers who would want to check out the stream as this is the best time for the players in this timezone, but just think of it as nothing else will be on at that time so if you're awake you have something to watch - Saturday, July 31st

Team Australia ![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tsld/images/flags/au.png)
iM`mOOnGLaDe is possibly one of the few household names of Australian SC2, already making a name for himself as a world class Zerg. He has represented Australia at WCG in WC3 on numerous occasions as well as show skill in other RTS such as SC:BW and DoW, and has already got an extensive SC2 résumé.
kjh is primarily known as one of the top SC:BW players in Australia playing in the national team and showing strong results against other top players. His great macro has carried over to his SC2 gameplay and he tends to prefer a big macro game with numerous bases over 1-base or cheesy play.
Legionnaire hardly needs an introduction when discussing his SC1 career, but his SC2 exploits have been a mixed bag due to a lack of application on his part. While he punches above his weight in the local tournaments he has played in, he may be hit-or-miss against quality opposition with his lack of practice.
Azz would be the other well known SC2 player for Australia if there had to be one, constitently showing very strong results against top international opponents as well as in local events.
Team Singapore ![[image loading]](http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/images2/c/ce/Sp.png)
Revenant was hailed as one of the future stars of Singaporean WC3, and won the last two WC3 WCGs in Singapore. His form has seemingly carried to SC2 as he came second in the first Singapore SC2 tournament.
nirvAnA is an old school Singaporean StarCraft player, having represented Singapore at WCG in 2000 and 2001, as well as winning the first Singapore SC2 tournament. He has shown consistent results during SC2 beta against quality opposition and you may recognise him under his previous SC2 ID aLt.
iceiceice was one of the best DotA players Singapore has produced, and won several national Singapore DotA WCGs and ESWCs. He was #1 on US ladder during May, and competed in the first Singapore SC2 tournament.
tagan is another strong WC3 player from Singapore, with Revenant claiming that tagan was a better WC3 player than him.

Go singapore! Iceiceice ftw :3

actually, if you can't find another sg caster, i don't mind doing it. i'm just not really good at the game.

Wtf is the Commonwealth games? Oh that thing that seemingly not even the UK cares about anymore? Right right.

This looks to be fun, I should be around - going to try and fix up my stream a little. I'll be available to shoutcast too if needed.
|
Good to see an SEA server event right off the bat =)
Should be awesome... Hope it goes to an ace!

If no one else is keen, you can be backup caster if your lag is OK.
|
Here's hoping this will be the first of many SEA events ^_^
Gogo team Singapore! Hope you can find a caster because the stream just won't be the same without a decent dose of Singlish...
|
Don't think I'll be casting this del, sorry.

uhm, can I barge in to be a caster? I have decent english and was a caster for the Philippine Scene before. I have a microphone and skype account
Im a pretty decent player, around a competitive plat division but didn't get to diamond keep losing in phase 2 but had a good win ratio of .53 percent. Just didn't level up to diamond I dunno

Don't want to be harsh on the SG players, but they have 0percent chance of winning against Aussies. Hell anyone of the aussie player can all kill the sg team.
This will be fun nonetheless. I will be eagerly waiting for this

HAHA what?! iceiceice took up starcraft 2?

I know both revenant and taganat and from my wc3 days (I was in the same team). I can tell you for certain that Aussies like moonglade / Philbots level where much much higher.
Hence my excitement, I really want to see how they fare against Moonglade and other aussies.

Hence my excitement, I really want to see how they fare against Moonglade and other aussies. I doubt PhiLBoT will ever play SC2, but Mez, Paz, and a few other of the WC3 guys you mighyt know of play too. Mez was originally going to play in this team but SG only had 4 competitive players available.

Wow, i am surprised at the Lack of Terran in this torney. Luckly i am a Zerg player but i feel kinda bad for the T-fan's out there. I guess KJH will have to Represent his country and his race.
Man, 2 am is early but i will be on the stream...
|
Woah iceiceice to SC2, guess I'm rooting for Singapore :D
|
Wow this is great, time to watch this and compare my lowly standards with the top players from our region.
|
Good luck Aussies! Wish I could watch this. I always have trouble watching your events Del.

ALSO there's a lineup change! nirvAnA will be playing first for Singapore instead of IceIceIce. Don't worry you should still get to see all the players though, we decide the other lineups after the first match has been played to keep you all guessing.

Honestly, decent events run at midday on weekends will probably attract a decent showing of players, and at a respectable time for most viewers worldwide.
Also i might not be able to cast, idk.

gogo Singapore!!
Yea we are the underdogs but im sure we will put up a good fight ^_^
|
Ok I just realized the Chinese are gonna be playing on the Taiwan server and not the SEA + Oceania one, looks like the road to diamond's gonna be pretty easy lol
|
AZZ FIGHTING! Get em bro!

Whao Iceiceice's SC2 beta ELO rating is higher than Day9's (assuming its the same iceiceice).
|
|
This will be absolutely fantastic I cannot wait until this is on :D
|
I will be in canberra while this event is on and will have to install SC2 on my laptop so don't worry if I'm late. To the participants, please keep in touch on MSN - nirvAnA if you can give them my MSN that would be prime cheers.
My laptop sucks and it might take a while to set it up ;(

You should totally get Kowi in this next time. He's dominating the ladder at the moment.

Oh right. Pfft he could probably represent NZ all by himself.
|
Go Moonglade!
|
A Singapore cast in hokkien will be ultimate win. Or maybe a chinese cast. I wonder how it would turn out. =)
|
Go azz - met him in ladder randomly a few times and hes always been polite and well mannered

Hey guys this might be a delayed cast through replays as raelcun can't make the early time any more. I'll keep you posted.
If it is...
PLEASE DON'T SPOIL

Great to see things started so soon after the game went on retails. Cheers for both nations here . I totally hope that "us" SEA server can go on par with others servers in skill level.

Pinder will now be streaming, back to what we started with as something came up and Raelcun can't make it!

Game 3 he had 7 idle probes for like 3 minutes cos he didn't notice a ramp block haha. Should have had like 6-10 more units out by that time but those idle probes...
EDIT: Not to take it away from ice, he definitely played well, but Azz really threw it away.
