+ Show Spoiler + Queens seemed insanely pointless.. especially 3 of them being used poorly. Allowing the P to get the 12 without a bloody fight was the error that cost him the game. Making matters worse was him deciding to kill it but leaving his crucial expansion naked and a protoss with a bigger bank/more minerals to mine at the corner expo = insta death. | ||

Castro seems to use Queens a lot in ZvP. At least, he's been using them more and more frequenty lately. | ||

For his starting build order, I was thinking, "I approve, very good!" The +1 zealot attack, but with only 2 gateways, making for a faster 2nd gas and faster templar tech, is a good build for Blue Storm. The attack did really well: killed many units and the only hatchery at the mineral-only. After the attack, I was thinking "what's the best way for Protoss to seal the game?" and I thought the answer was to add some cannons to each mineral line and build a group of +1 corsairs (stargate already has been built) and, other than these expenditures, continue to play normally. I was right but we didn't get to see it happen. In that position, a 4hatch, 3base lurker/ling dual evo chamber Zerg, who loses a bunch of zerglings and 1hatch 1base, is in a very tough spot against a toss with a group of corsairs and no possibility of taking econ damage. Corsairs handle a possible muta switch (which happened), they handle all-in drops and/or harrass drops, and they clear the skies of overlords/scourge to make protoss econ harrass easy against an already weak zerg econ. The protoss has no use for his standing army but can make it useful by sending it to defend the corner expansion while the nexus and cannons are building. By the time that 4th nexus 3rd gas finishes, Protoss will be above 150 supply and can go take map control and wait on reavers to siege a sunk/lurker defense, which would be the zerg's only option at that point. ezpz. | ||
