this game annoyed me because blackmaster totally threw the game away, he could've killed dunaj's base so easily then he ran back to his own for some reason and just sat there for an hour, wtf??

I have enormous respect for the way Dunaj handled this situation. His creativity was simply amazing and only very few people could have displayed what he did here when being put in the same situation.

He did it well and did it with style. I don't mind the replay length so much, at x4 I found it very entertaining (usually I watch replays at x2).

Games like that are what makes BWs hands down the greatest RTS game of all time. That dude recalled, mind controled, and recalled the units back so fast you could hardly see it sometimes. P

I've only had one draw game, and it was a 1.5 hour long on Bifrost ZvT. I consumed lots of Overlords and Plagued, and while I was waiting for Broodling to finish I'd grab a book and start reading

I won the game by the way.

Holy shit.

First of all, Dunaj deserves a great deal of respect for showing the spirit of a true gamer and fighting to win right until the end, rather than giving up because it was a tedious or slow process

. Blackmaster also deserves some respect for not TOTALLY going afk or abandoning the game. The end result: a fantastic and one-of-a-kind replay.

That said, many of Dunaj's tricks were simply stunning. And chances are, he came up with most of them right there, on the spot. That takes real creative genius

. I was totally expecting the game to end in a draw, but as Dunaj started stealing units and then using hallucination to kill cannons off one by one, I realized that he could actually win this O_O. And he did

At least Blackmaster didn't totally give the game away: he used some tricks of his own that forced Dunaj to be very meticulous with his unit contrrol and to come up with even more brilliant strategies.

Trek's comments apply very well to Blackmaster: he continued making goons and zealots for a long time, whereas Dunaj realized much earlier that the game was headed for a no-mineral situation and consequently he was making almost entirely HTs while Blackmaster was still using zeal/goon.

In my opinion, this replay illustrates the most beautiful part of Brood War: the highly creative use of units and strategies to win, played out in realtime.

In the old ums map quickthink I used to be protoss and mind control an scv and then recall it out to get another 200 units of terran. Seeing that same strat used in a real melee game was pretty cool.

Dunaj could've won early on, twice. Yeah of course I can see that Blackmaster has a low unit count, but the first two battles Dunaj won handily, then he doesn't kill off an expo, and just retreats...

Dunaj is good, but did you know the other player was afk towards the end of the game? For minutes at a time.
