It's a fairly common and really old trick. Some people do it wrong by morphing it while it's still being attacked. That's worse because it stops regenerating hp until it's done.
And about pimpest plays. we're really running out of material. The first few were awesome but now it's getting old. I think it's better not having a movie at all than to have one with below part scenes.
Take the WCG 2007 movie for example. It was awesome. The graphics were really good and such, but the material wasn't all that impressive. I'm afraid the same thing will happen to "forced" pimpest plays.

dinot's build and strat on wuthering were definitely pimpest play material
and maybe even nony's storms on wuthering, man that was insane

super common.
if anything, hwoever was playing vs flash @ intel classic made a nifty move on game 3 that probably deserves a mention.

You call that a pimpest play? Lmao. The whole we v-tec players have been doing that for years comes to mind here. Point of the matter is you see the pro's doing this many times when they just save an expo to prevent further harass/give them enough time to respond without losing the expo.

This is oooold. Nothing new at this trick.

if you wanna see a pimpest play, search up most storms ever on youtube. I think it was a an osl game between jangbi and nal_ra on andromeda. I'm sorry I can't link them right now, will later

Well if you think you can barely save the hatchery, you should morph it asap. The HP recovers very slowly and it won't make more than a couple points difference by the time you've defended/lost the hatch.
If you wait til after you've defended to morph it, then it will be much longer before it becomes a lair, and he has more time to come with another army to finish it.

dinot build was very awesome
upgrading a hatch is standard and totally not special, in fact i think you suck hard if you dont

Juni vs Flash, Intel Classic, Game 3, was Pimpest Plays material imo http://www.gomtv.net/videos/164 Epic Hatchery/Nydus Canal Action.
edit: oh lol never mind, it was already mentioned :D

i agree

Yeah ok - seems simple, but I have never had it happen to me, nor have seen it in replays. Interesting...

I'd consider the Nony build a pimpest play The way he executed it and timed it perfectly makes pvz look so easy.

if you lose the hatch as it morphs into a lair do you get your upgrade costs back?

I found it surprising how Artosis and Chill passed it off as another common trick. What do you guys think about it? The morphing to lair didn't help him save the hatch, because the extra health doesn't apply until the lair finishes morphing. Morphing to lair only helps (if it finishes) for future attacks if Nony decides to do another kamikaze attack on the hatchery. Besides, this trick has been done for years.

If you're confident you can save the hatchery in time and you know he's going to take another stab at the hatchery, you should morph to lair asap. This way, the lair will finish faster, increasing the chance of saving itself in the next attack. If you can't save it in time, you obviously shouldn't morph to lair. Also should be noted that morphing to lair halts the regeneration of the hatchery, so that should be taken into account, too.

I'm a d- noob and I've upgraded my expo for hp a few times
But there has been some amazing plays last few weeks/months. PP2008 could be awesome if done right.
