at this stage in the game NO match will be a freewin. You can tell when the first match is Mondragon vs the only protoss (aside from JF/Nony) that could give him a run for his money. Dreiven is on top of his game it seems too. I cant WAIT for that series.

If Dreiven had not gone family BBQing he might have come in as group 1st, thus avoiding this match - I think Dreiven vs. Mondragon in the RO16 it too early, would look better in Semis or so.
edit: And btw, no Terrans nowhere so far? That's quite a sad story.

Just to bump this question, I was wondering about this as well. In the original announcement there is still word about a "Group Stage" of the TSL, followed by Quarter Finals and Semi Finals. Therefore it sounded like there would be OSL Style groups where two come out alive each, and only THEN single elimination.

A lot of protoss in there, I'm sure Mondragon isn't too unhappy with that.

Wow, I think single elim is really unfair for some players and should only be used to decide the winner. There are some nice 2nd and 3rd place prizes and I'm surprised that players actually agree on this. Did players know this before ro32? I'm pretty sure some dodging could happen that way.
On the other hand, I'm surprised by maps, these new aren't yet tested for balance issues and can affect the results big time.
But from spectator's point of view, really looking forward for matches, gl hf everyone and get us some ggs.

We originally planned a "Group Stage" that was Bo1 for the Ro16, but we changed it to bracket Bo3, for many reasons including player preference, scheduling, consistency, map and lag issues, etc.
It was always single elimination.

Having frequented gg.net/wgt/tl.net for years I can tell you people over generalize or post extreme opinions all the time. I dont think it is an established mentality that these players are on relatively equal playing fields for the general poster. Hence my argument. Be a fan sure but be a respectful / level headed human being when you know these guys are going to read these comments.

yeah.....basically you are right, but first of all, i dislike idra and like white_ra, so yeah, i simply don't want to analyse this match without being biased! and from my point of view you are a little bit exaggerating, i don't think that even one of the players mentioned even gives a damn shi* about any comment some random guys make here (like me) - and if they do, they really shouldn't :D !

The quality of the matchup is so good. A lot of the matches can be the TSL's grand final.

Would be nice if both USA players weren't on the same side of the brackets. If Idra plays like how he played in the R1 then it could be a Mondragon vs Idra grand finals. Mondragon could lose to RoX.BRAT_OK since ZvT is the best chance to beat Mondragon. Then we can have a TvT finals against Idra where another Russian wins Teamliquid tourney. Idra's TvP is like a rock, its so solid. Another possible final is Mondragon vs Draco. Draco must be extremely good in pvp given the amount of protoss on TSL ladder & he is ranked #2. There are a few other names I don't follow so it is hard for me to judge the rest.
At this level, almost can anyone can beat anyone. The biggest favorite is Mondragon, the returning warrior is Draco, and the hidden card is Idra.

As far as I've seen in the last months since I joined ToT we just don't like arrogant people. And we aren't "faking" humilty as many say, most of the times we just recognize that our opponent are very good and so if we are not sure to win we don't say so. It's not like Mondragon wants us to behave in some particular way (or well let's just say he doesn't pretend ANYTHING from his players, he's one of the most awesome clan leaders I've had), he just doesn't want us to insult people randomly or troll in the forums making useless flames towards other players.
