I think it's safe to say there's nothing inherent to pro gaming to prevent it from growing and becoming popular - even in the US.

I aint gonna eat i aint gonna sleep, i aint gonna breathe till i see what i wanna see, and what i wanna see is you go to sleep in the dirt permanently, you're just being hurt, this aint gonna work for me it just wouldn't be sufficient enough, cuz we are just gonna be enemies, as long as we breathe i dont ever see either of us comming to terms where we can agree there aint gonna be no reasons for you and me, u speak on my side, then me no speake englais, so we're gonna beef and keep on beefing unless You're gonna agree to meet with me in the flesh and settle this face to face, and you're gonna see a demon unleashed in mee that u never seen, and you're gonna see this gangster beyond himself, i see you d12 and thanks but me need no help. Me do this all by my lonely, i dont need 15 of my homies. when i see you i'm seeing you, me and you only. We never met, but best believe you're gonna know me, when i'm this close i see you exposed as phoney. Come on bitch show me, pick me up throw me, lift me up hold me, just like you told me, you was gonna do. thats what i thought you're pittyful.
you are one of the least benigtedly unintelligent organic life forms it has been my profound lack of pleasure not to be able to avoid meeting.

Seriously. If skateboarding has a following, if golf got a tremendous following, pro gaming can gain a following as well. Not to the extent of 20,000 fans waving balloons with signs, but a following.

Bowling became a sport, I dont see why progaming won't get popular.

Note: That was ment to make fun of bowling.

Yeah Australia (this year) hashosted it's 3rd WCG qulifiers. I COULD SWEAR that last years were better... EVEN THE TRIAL WCG (before WCG officially opened) were better.. judging by trends it's only going to get worse.. and I don;t get it... in the world (competition based) starcraft has
1. more money per head
2. more tournaments
3. The most number of pro players

AND YET.. The australian community chooses to go "wtg is sc? u mean cs rite?"

People Just think that gaming is an addiction, and it is. All those korean pros are just addicted to that game. People don't give some nerd playing ten hours a day away from everyone and alone in his basement any respect. I mean spending 10hrs a day practicing hockey with other people is more respectable than being secluded with a computer for 10 hrs.

I don't think it will happen in our lifetime, or else some 10 year old addict will be earning 100 000 dollars which is rediculous. You can play pro football the rest of your life but progaming can only go so far. I'd call Boxer a loser if 5 years from now he is still playing starcraft.

there are pro chess players and people respect them... i dont see the difference between chess and starcraft as a career choice, but i dont think grrrr's little theory will ever pick up, especially with the wc3 part of it...

You can play pro football until the next injury to your spinal column.

And, if 5 years from now, if Boxer's still playing (presumably because he's still skilled and the game's still popular), most will be calling him "a rich bastard."

Progaming will be in U.S. but not Broodwar.

Console games like Halo and Super Smash Brothers Melee are pretty big now.

Its because of ppl like Tien that it might not make it.. they see it as an addiction comparing to the incredibly hard and demanding SPORTS, which are so entertaining to watch.. yea Tien, cant get enough of those sweaty men throwing 'em balls...

[edit]: secluded? wtf u mean they arent playing other people?
