I agree with you in terms of the pros/cons of each, but for me it's an easy choice. I have (and always will) like GSTL more. The format, quality, production, and overall feel of GSTL is more professional (at least for the English stream) and I like the eSF teams more.

The team aspect of GSTL seems lost when you can have a super ace or two on your team and they end up all-killing or nearly all-killing and then someone cleans up. On an individual level it provides excitement in that you want to see if the certain player can go the full distance, but the team aspect is just lost in all of it. This is why I voted for Proleague, I think they can and will fix the commentary part and the production value will go up in time and with the superior format I can't see it not winning out. On the plus side Proleague can afford to and does bring out truly unique and crazy map, because the format is such that if a map is really race favored then you just send that race on the map and it evens out until the map is rotated out, this has lead to us seeing some truly unique maps and games and maps this year, and while not all of them where successful or good, at least in the end we had some added entertainment.

As a person that played and appreciates BW but not fanatic about it i don't see any particular appeal over GSTL, they have long breaks between matches, average casting and little content that appeals to foreigners. On the other hand GSTL has great casting, good music and info in between matches, proper format with well translated interviews. Not to mention GSL before all the WCS confusion...

SC2L edges out GSTL for me; I enjoy them both but the tiebreaker is airtime. Much more convenient for me being in the US.

ATC - The Karont3 decision and the stupid revive rule (the one that allows one guy (Taeja/Yugioh/Huyn, etc) to play 3 times) lessened my enthusiasm for this league quite a bit, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't really excited for the start of season 2. SC2L - This one I think is pretty cool, but the erratic broadcast days was kind of annoying. ProLeague - So I had watched SC2 for a few months and started learning who the players (eSF guys) are and then suddenly there are twice the Korean players and Teams? Sorry, but I'm not going to be excited about a league with players I don't care about (didn't watch BW) with casting I didn't like and whose stats overlays look like they are straight out of the mid 90's. I watched a couple of EGTL's games but that was it. That being said, the tiny GSTL is quite saddening and I'm thinking it will probably end up merging into PL. I'd happily watch it then. My favorite league of all time was definietly the IPTL though. More specifically, the IPL TAC3 (the one where TaeJa killed everybody). Kevin Knocke and DoA casting, TaeJa picking up TL and dragging them to the finals...I doubt any league will ever beat that in my mind.

Pro league was ok, but english commentary killed it for me. Still watched some korean streams, but only chosen ones and when I didn't had anything better to do. Don't care about the other 2 at all.

This season I can't say I really care as much for GSTL. I still watch, but there's nobody I can really get behind as much as IM. I'm rooting for FXO, but with significantly less passion had IM still been playing. The format for GSTL is a lot better this season though, with better maps...it's still cool I guess. SPL isn't around just yet, but I suppose I'll vote that since it owns in production, format, and longevity. Not to mention, IM seems likely to join. edit: oh, and how could I forget SPL's finest point...MAPS! I love the rotations between rounds. Also, SPL on average has much more of an audience. I didn't really care much for SNM as a caster though, I felt like he held Whiplash back. It seemed like Whiplash would try to inject some humor every now and then into the cast and SNM would kind of shoot it down.

![]() Oh well, still GSTL since they're the only one to consistently have an English broadcast and two casters that know what they're talking about at least 95% of the time. Oh yeah, and they have a set broadcast time so I know when to be awake to watch and they don't change the broadcast time mid-season.

GSTL: Good commentary/production, includes many of my favourite players/teams, awful airtime for my zone Proleague: Satisfactory commentary/production, includes players/history less familiar to me, good airtime SC2L: Good commentary, decent production, includes many good players but not the best, good airtime ATC: Didn't watch enough to judge

Why is that? Watch out, completely non-objective opinion incoming: GSTL has the most fun format. Players actually do sometimes show a sense of joy when they won. Plus, GSTL SC2 history (SlayerS vs. FXO ...) is just great. Proleague - raw display of skill. It's KeSPA. It's traditional from BW. It's like "there is a duty to watch this if you're into SC2!" (and I would not follow Proleague as much as I do without EGTL. I simply don't care for hugely skilled players that do not care for fans. "Cheer for me, thanks to sponsors" is not what I call caring for fans.) ATC - European time zone (mostly). Was fun to watch, and I do like not-kr based teamleagues, because it shows the growth of the scene. Also, I do enjoy Acer supporting the scene pretty much. BUT: In terms entertainment, ATC clearly wins. In terms of skill displayed, Proleague wins. Of course. SC2L - not really watchable for EU ppl due to timezone (well, same for KR tournaments - but they do have the calibers of players that make me get up at 5 or 6 in the morning at the weekend).

I never followed any sort of team leagues at all. Not even in bw. Doesn't appeal to me. I don't like team anything really. Also, the matches are usually a weird bo1 KotH format which is not the same as outplaying someone in a series. It seems like there is less skill and hardwork involved. I'll watch individual games if they are good or interesting when people talk about them though.

I even enjoyed Supernovamanic and Whiplash, I think they are quite funny. The Maps are cool, and you can see many many games per week on highest level, no matter even who plays.

Proleague's length makes it feel a lot more like a very, very professional league. I enjoy how each team plays every other team 6 times, it's also nice for teams, because if you don't have a good round, you can try to do better next round and hopefully fix the issues. Most importantly, I love the proleague format, makes it feel more "team" based because you can't just rely on a super power like innovation or rain or flash to carry the entire team. GSTL has the best english production down. Players in booths, high quality streams and VOD's and two of the best casters around. the teams they have are incredibly skilled and the matches are usually very cool to watch. SC2L and ATC are basically tied, the SC2L only wins slightly because it has more foreign teams, and it's not like I have a hard on for foreigners over koreans like a lot of sc2 fans do, but it is nice to have a league where more foreigners are playing because there is GSTL and Proleague already and I love how each player can be entertaining to watch even if they aren't the highest level of skill.

Entertainment quality : Proleague Players' range of involvement : Proleague As for the shoutcasting... I'd rather not mention it, it's sort of irrelevant in the vote.

Therefore I'm stuck with ATC, but I have been enjoying it quite a lot. While the quality of the games might not be as high as in Proleague, the crew of Take are definitely the better cooks. ![]()

Every other teamleague is played online, and I really couldn't care less about any form of online competition, especially given that most of them are casted from replays. Also watching foreigners play vs koreans, or even worse vs other foreigners, is kinda sad nowadays. I like proleague more because I like the kespa teams more and the format is way more appealing to me, plus personally since I never pay any attention to what exactly the casters are talking about, I prefer proleague as they don't shout as much as khaldor.
