Voted Proleague since damnit, there's just something about a "team" sport that I fall for every time...

But really I enjoy OSL and MSL just as much as Proleague. Both rank far higher on my list than StarCraft 2 atm as current Brood War is more entertaining by a fair bit. I'm not going to speculate on why that is or if it will stay that way, but for now it simply is.
Orders, Sir! Ready to roll out!

A lot of people are just nostalgic and stuck in the past. They'll come around, eventually. I played and watched SC1 for 12 years. Not much surprises me anymore. The evolution of the strategy, tactics, and the skills of the pro players are predictable. I may not be even close to their match, but they are too boring to watch for anyone with half a brain for strategy games.

i call BS on this... the game is still evolving, every season when new maps are released the metagame changes significantly and you have a new broodwar, some newbie players come up with some crazy strats and then soon afterwards someone has already a good counter to that... so it looks like you dont even have that half of a brain...

what i find disgusting though is how many ppl put OSL/MSL over PL :D

i think i dont like watching OSL/MSL that much if you have 1 or 2 players you root for then you have a good chance your favourites will get kicked out of the tourney and immediately the tournament becomes less attractive, in PL there's always the next game...

Pro League with MSL right behind.

The fact MBC is starting to pull it's weight makes it very enjoyable. MSL because Flash vs. the Dong Part II is still possible.

Played SC for 12 years and joined TL this year? Yeah right.

You are obviously totally unfamiliar with the Korean pro scene. Please refrain from posting about it.

you said it!

and what about being "just nostalgic and stuck in the past"... sc:bw is not past. it has the most active and vibrant community, with a competitive scene that makes sc2 look like a joke... and sc2 for now is only some promised future and as for now a future that doesnt look too bright... time will show however.

Newsflash:
What is going on here is that some (but definitely not all!) of the people in love with Starcraft:BW refuse to accept that there are intelligent, normal people who prefer a different game.

"Wow this person likes something I definitely don't care for, so there's obviously something terribly wrong with him! Whatever I like is obviously universally a good thing and everybody who thinks otherwise must be crazy!"
It's like the console wars.
Try making a thread called "I love Xbox!" on Playstation forums or vice-versa and I bet you something funny happens even if you don't say a single mean word.

It's also a big excuse for bullies to pick on people at school. "Hey this guy likes something weird, let's beat the crap out of him!"

I think most of us grow out of this mindset as we age, so I don't think coin collectors and stamp collectors rage at each other very much, but I could certainly be wrong!

Anyway, I like both but I prefer Starcraft 2.
I think it's because I personally find the units and abilities more interesting.
I love seeing Void Rays snipe buildings, swarms of Phoenixes killing masses of ground units with micro, sneaky Nydus Worms devastating mineral lines at the worst possible moments, well controlled Banelings melting units many times their cost and just all kinds of stuff like that.
I even recall a 2vs2 with Vortex + Nuke. The units exited the vortex just as nuke was about to hit the ground.

(This is the point where somebody starts foaming at mouth and types me an angry reply showing how SC:BW obviously better and I'm WRONG and mentally retarded by having a personal preference. Moving along!)

I must say I certainly prefer the Zergling attack sounds of the original and I somewhat miss lurkers and mines.
SC2 could use a little more "locked down" ground, maybe.

no, Its just not very fun to watch people play a game they aren't very good at...progamers in BW pull off insane plays and tactics, this is whats fun to watch. Sc2 is good for novelty and I'm sure will be much more entertaining when it gets big, but right now the skill level is too low to be really spectacular.

This is exactly the reason.

I watch OSL/MSL/Proleague so much because the top Korean players give their A-game every night.

SC2: It's fun to watch sometimes, but for some reason to me it seems dumbed down compared to BW. Also the game is still in BETA mode. Right now the top Starcraft players in the world are still playing in Brood War.

Until my homie Flash converts to Terran in SC2... I'll probably forever be a BW fan.

I was expecting sc2 to be winning but not by a landslide. I guess sc2 will eclipse sc1 for sure.
Yea that looks just like Kang Min... amazing game sense... and uses mind games well, but has the micro of a washed up progamer.

I assume watching replays on sc2 counts as "watching".

I'm watching sc2 reps like nobody's business. And I love seeing what good players are doing with the game so far. Haven't touched bw since the beta came out :D

Well oh i hate it when you come to website's like this and people want to show off there eletism. Just like when you talk about cycling, metal ore anything. THere will always be this annoying group with, old is better. You new guys don't know how cool it was then. But face it after 2 years is sc bw a legendary game, but sc2 is the new thing. So don't be so euh i only like oldschool because that is what makes me look cool. Sc2 is not that thrilling but if you can enjoy the upcoming strats and the refreshing play, sc2 is cool.

Sc2 is new and that is why you shouldn't bash it, people with will power to learn the game will eventually have just as much potention.

To all the close minded fanboys, grow up. You can bash every game that is new and walk with the SC BW was the best game ever slogan on your head. It just shows how easy people think about things, the game will progress and once everyone knows what they are doing the game will be just as fun to watch.

This isn't a choice between watching random SC1 streamers (if there are any anymore) and SC2 streams, it's actual Starcraft 1 leagues complete with players and teams who you've become familiar with after so many years of Starcraft progaming, and that you can cheer for like football fans cheer for their favourite club.

And I voted MSL because of Jaedong.

if anything your post is more assumption than theirs. You assume constantly that they are clinging to the old game, but a lot people contrasting your opinion are speaking against have some reason why they don't like SC2 as much. Also the just as fun to watch thing is pretty subjective, and people have their own opinions, whether you like it or not. If people prefer SC1 deal with it, don't act like them being supposedly "close minded fanboys", but in reality you're saying if they don't like SC2 and prefer SC1 they're clingy and elitest.

No people write literally on the forum: "everyone who chooses sc2 fails". That has nothing to do with a subjective meaning that i don't understand. There is a difference with saying: "i like scbw better because of the high level of play" ore "i like scbw everyone else knows surely not enough to choose between the two options".

And that sir is close minded, and you make an assumption that i am flaming everyone who doesn't choose sc2, but that is a change of my words. And saying to people who say "this fails" that they fail is not allowed. Because it shows that i don't respect there opinion. Well the matter of fact is, i don't respect trashtalk hidden behind the slogan "my opinion"

OSL > MSL > Proleague > SC2. Why would I watch SC2 when I can play it? :>

HOWEVER -- Proleague Tournament/FINALS > all. That's by far the most exciting starcraft experience imo...

I am shocked and appalled at the amount of votes SC2 received. . I feel like we're being overrun. I'll be honest i'm looking forward to the MSL most only because a possibility of Jaedong vs Flash. OSL is a very close 2nd and proleague is a very close 3rd. I liked the all kill format last season better so thats why its pushed all the way to 3rd.
Nothing to it but to do it.

This is the hardest poll to cast a vote on ever...kinda.
But I'm actually looking much forward to Nal_rA old boy! It's just amazingly entertaining and about the best game ever, BW. I'm having such a hard time picking a game. BW is still, undoubtably, the best game ever made, and I don't think sc2 will ever top it, but because of the masses of new gamers in the starcraft universe sc2 will automatically grow bigger, which makes it the future of competetive rts gaming.
Because of this "identity crysis", I'm not really watching any of the poll options as of now. :S

One summary of this thread:

(1) Negative surprise at the discrepancy between poll results and poll thread sentiments.

(2) A mix of humor and irritation directed towards people who mostly voted without posting their views.

(3) A mix of justified retaliation and overreaction from said people (not yet aware that strong language like " f*** " is thrown about like dust on TL and have less emotional intentions)

(4) Attempts by several individuals to be above the conflict. They choose to end their messages with more baiting.

so funny that everyone commenting here is saying how osl>msl>pl>sc2 or some arrangement with sc2 always being last, yet SC2 has the overwhelming majority in the polls
