Batoo OSL: It Begins...
Batoo OSL has already completed its first week of games and already the upsets are flooding in. With the star-studded lineup this season, the quality of the games this week has been good as expected. How good though? If you haven't already watched the games then you can catchup on what you've missed, and how great the games have been, by checking out the highlights for both the first day of play, and the second. Just scroll down, watch, and enjoy 2~3 hours of OSL action in 15 minutes!
Batoo OSL: Week 1-1 Highlights

+ Show Spoiler [Results] + Comments: The night started off producing a mediocre PvP between Bisu and Stork. With Stork's questionable form recently, and Bisu looking hot as ever, it came as no surprise that Bisu was able to overcome Stork's hidden-gateway antics and took the game with relative ease. Leta vs Hero produced one of the unexpected good games this week, Hero pushed Leta's TvZ to the limit and produced an entertaining conflict between the two. Eventually, Leta was able to limit Hero's expansions and take an economic lead, and eventually the game.
BeSt vs Hwasin featured one of the best timing attacks I've seen. However, that meant that for the most part the game was Hwasin raping BeSt without concern for the lives of innocent probes. BeSt desperation recall right at the end is representative of the futile effort BeSt put up against Hwasin. Hwasin looks to be in incredible form at the moment, form which will hopefully take him to the semifinals. Lastly, Jaedong and Luxury duked it out in a great ZvZ. Jaedong, who was behind most of the game, showed why he is the ZvZ king and managed to take Luxury to school with brilliant micro, timing and game sense. Excellent play by Jaedong - who's looking highly likely to 3-0 his group at this stage.

+ Show Spoiler [Results] + Comments: Yarnc continued his strong form and dismantled July without too much difficult. July was behind the entire game after going gas first, and Yarnc really exploited that deficit to the best of his ability. fantasy vs Tester was plagued by misfortune for Tester. His 12 Nexus was countered by a blind center barracks, which was followed up by a bunker rush. The Nexus fell but Tester fought back and just about evened out the game when his keyboard malfunctioned and lost a number of Dragoons for nothing. After about 10minutes of paused game the game resumed and Tester was eventually bested by fantasy.
Flash vs Upmagic produced the game of the week. It was a roller coaster TvT with the momentum and advantage switching from side to side in the blink of an eye. Battlecruisers were everywhere, Yamato clones were awesome, Valkyries tore up wraiths, Goliaths tested their strength against BCs... oh it was awesome. You just have to watch the game!! Kal vs GGplay was like watching two crippled kids brawling around on the ground unable to punch properly. It was painful, long, drawn out, and abysmal. With these guys playing as bad as they did, Luxury and Jaedong look like sure bets to advance from this group.
Batoo OSL: Week 2 Preview
This night is unlikely to produce any epic counters like last week, but should produce games good enough to keep you entertained. Expect to see Jaedong tear Kal a new one, and he runs all over him on a fierce Z>P map. UpMagic should produce a fairly good game against BeSt, and in my opinion, will be the game of the night. Tester vs Hero is going to be slaughter; Tester can't play PvZ for the life of him and Hero is responsible for eliminating Bisu. I'm curious to see how Hero is going to play though, because thus far his play style has been somewhat difficult to pin down. This game should be a good indicator of what that style looks like as he will be the favorite and most likely the better player here today. Yarnc vs Stork should be fun and will be the test to see if Yarnc really is in good for or just raising everyone's hopes for nothing [again...]. I predict Yarnc will win, if for no reason other than Stork is terrible at the moment.
This night promises to be significantly better than the other game night this week. We have the age old clash between the MBC-deserters, July and Bisu, which invariably produces an interesting encounter. To follow up this, we have Leta going at Fantasy. Now fantasy already played a really cool TvT against Light in the Winners League which involved an epic Battlecruiser war, and given how this map played out last week for TvT, we might just see that again. Leta, though, is no push over and is probably the best TvT player in the world at the moment - so this should be a really entertaining affair.
Hwasin vs Flash is the rematch from their MSL confrontation where Flash was bested by Hwasin. I'm sure there is revenge on the cards, but given how well Hwasin is playing at the moment - all I see happening is a repeat of the MSL game. GGplay vs Luxury should be a real downer to end the night. GGplay isn't the best ZvZ player in the world, not by a long shot. Luxury, however, is probably the second best ZvZ player in the world behind Jaedong - I expected Luxury to run all over GGplay in a matter of minutes.
That is all for now! I hope you enjoyed the highlight videos and there should be more of those to come in subsequent posts. This season is going to be an experimental season where we try out new things in the post; the video coverage is one of these new things. Please leave any criticism/praise about the new style and the highlight video here and hopefully by the end of the season we have a new kickass format to pleasure you with.

nice writeup and the summary videos were sexy~

flash is the best tvt, and should rape hwasin. As flash said, Hwasin won in a BO war in their other game.

I dont know what your expectations were but PvP rarely gets any better... Besides that awesome write up as always I dno it was fairly obvious after the first attack that Stork was going to lose and that dragged out the game for quite some time, which was kinda boring imo. Up until Stork tried to break bisu's front it was great, just the latter half which bogged it down =/ i may have been too harsh but meh!

Your crazy the Stork V Bisu game, MEDIOCORE???
You obviously didn't watch it....
|
I really don't want to see Flash go down 0-2 in his OSL group. That would be pretty bad for him. I think he'll have it in him to take down Hwasin in this match.... if only because Hwasin has only had 3 big (I admit, great) preformances and Flash is consistently good at TvT.
I think July will lose to Bisu, not because of either one's form, but because it seems like it's Bisu's turn to win against him so to speak. Maybe that's being a bit supersticious, who knows.
Hoping Yarnc beats Stork!!

I feel bad for Stork lol.

The most notable part that I found on that Stork vs Bisu game was their APM shown in the end.... Bisu had a FREAKING 500 APM while Stork had like 250.... yea...

I guess two is many if you consider none some. Things turned out fairly interesting. Neat that flash got taken out though.

Nice Writeup Plexa!
Bisu v. July will be very interesting to watch.
+ Show Spoiler +Hopefully Bisu doesn't try to drop hack again :x
|
Leta probably has the best TvT while Flash is the best overall T at the moment despite the PR
I'm expecting to see July > Bisu, July's veteran ZvP has always triumphed over Bisu's powerful neo PvZ even in the old days, and I expect to see the same.
Kal vs Jaedong should also prove interesting, Kal has a significant advantage from beating JD recently, at least psychologically. Kal also has a monster PvZ imo, but if Jaedong gets his prime ZvP back again, he's unstoppable.
Expect to see some great games!!

The work you guys are doing for the community is just amazing!

I dont know what your expectations were but PvP rarely gets any better... Besides that awesome write up as always +1. I thought that was a great PvP and Stork could easily have won that after the initial fight, if he hadnt gotten so greedy with his reaver and pulled it back to fend off Bisu's harass instead.

/me wondered what would have happened if stork dropped the last surviving reaver into bisu's probe line just inches away. Stork lost the final engagement due to 1st 3*scarab salvo from bisu though, he wasn't watching his nat entrance T.T that was probably one of the more upsetting parts of spectating that match (having it go game over in 3s)
oh and thanks for t3h highlites!

One more for the Stork vs Bisu being good. Bisu took that with ease? I don't think so. Bisu was in a very bad position after their first clash. He really had to fight for that win.
|
Flash! snap out of it man! i can't bear to see you losing to hwasin. . . . and the sad thing is, you might really lose.
Good try for Stork. his game's finally loosening up. hope that loss to Bisu didn't discourage him.

Thx for write-up as always.

ugh....
SPOILER
Yarnc 1-1 Stork 1-1 Bisu 1-0 July 0-1
oo ;D

Wow, it's the first time I watch the highlight VODs, but this is so great! I thought such short VODs would miss important parts of the games but, having seen the full length of these games, I realise that all the action of a game doesn't last that long.
Thanks a lot to whoever is taking the time to produce these very neat VODs!! I'll watch them each week for sure!

BEASTSUUUUUUU HWAITING!!!!

+ Show Spoiler + Group A has potential to be a 4 way tie if July eats Bisu (which I think is quite likely). I guess this means we are goin to get some awesome third weak for group A
PS: Nice article, Plexa
