It is in the spirit of Christmas to spend time with your family and friends. Here at TL, we like to think of all our users as extended family and very good friends. We are all here on this site because we love Starcraft, and so it only makes sense to enjoy each others company while we game as hard as we can. Thus, it's only appropriate that we have another edition of Racewars.
TeamLiquid RaceWars Tournament!
DATE: Wednesday, December 31, 6:00am TL.net time (that is December 30th at 4pm EST or 10pm CET)
TIME: 6:00am-8:00am
WHERE: Op tl-west & op tl-west 2 on USWest
1.16?: Use R1CH's fix here
WHY: To have fun. And to prove that Zerg doesn't suck.
RULES
1. Each team will be made up of 16 players. You must select the team that is your main race, no randomers or race pickers. You must also show a blatant bias for your race, and look down upon others who choose to play with inferior soldiers.
2. One player from each team will be matched up with one from the other teams, making 16 p/t/z groups. I will do this completely randomly.
3. Each player will play the other in a bo3, meaning each group will play TvP, TvZ, PvZ. Obs are allowed on agreement, and I strongly encourage the third member of each group to obs the games. It makes it more fun that way.
4. After your group is finished, everyone MUST upload their replays and PM them to Plexa. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification and castration. No exceptions (unless of course you are already castrated, in which case we will just take whatever is left).
5. The map pool is as follows:
Game 1: Othello
Game 2: Destination
Game 3: Colosseum II

6. The team that wins the most individual games is the winner.

Not on all maps though, you could have chosen at least one of these:
Medusa (TvZ: 11-16 (40.7%) )
Blue Storm (TvZ: 27-45 (37.5%) )
Neo Requiem (TvZ: 20-20 (50%) )
Neo Harmony (TvZ: 4-5 (44.4%) )
Fantasy 2 (TvZ: 6-13 (31.6%) )

etc. Anyway I know it's just a friendly game and no big deal so no worries. Like Supah said the Bnet lag will be more of a problem anyway.

keit, I don't know why its run on battlenet, is there even a low latency plugin/chaos for 1.16? I'd be all for playing with it on but it will be a bit more of a mess to try to get everyone in your group to install it. I'm not saying this to be bitching or anything as I love the fact that this is getting organized at all, but iccup just seems like a way better alternative than west.

because just about everyone is using iccup already meaning they are playing 1.15.3 instead of 1.16, because you have lan latency without downloading chaos with plugin, because you don't need a CD-key to play. (I just have a chatbanned b.net account, not really a good reason as everyone else porbably has one)
What does competitiveness have to do with it, everyone playing with the least lag possible should be good for both competitive and casual events.

The issue is that iccup is simpler and more accessible in every single way for most of the players, why it's simpler was written in the post you quoted. It's possible in both ways, one demands way less organizing and additional work among the groupmembers than the other.

Does anyone here have multiple Starcraft CD-keys? Because this zerg, and probably my groupmembers, would really really appreciate not being chatbanned while playing the racewars. I will not ever use your account again as I don't play on battlenet at all, and if I did I wouldn't need to chat. Would make my day, I'm on my 6th reinstall but all keys I try are chatbanned or registered.. damn

I'm having problems upgrading to 1.16 right now, does anyone know how to without having to reinstall? (I don't have the cd).
When I dl the patch, it closes bw but it has problems installing, saying something about a "checksum" and ".../starcraft/standard.snp" in the directory.

Game 1: Pretty much standard...he went 3 hatch mutas and I just played regularly and lasted till he went to Hive tech. When I was at his choke I really shouldn't have rushed with marines because those two lurkers killed me =P
Game 2: I went BBS behind Attack Zerg's natural but I fucked up my play because there were TOO many minerals, easily blocked for Zerg.

Game 1: I went 2factory and Oystein went FE and then went DT's which I scouted. I knew I was fucked and I should have build an E-bay or something...close but not close enough!

Game 1, oystein vs attackzerg => macro war, I never got my macro going enough to break his cannon/temp lines.
Game 2 -> I win, Fucking epic defence by oystein, he lasted about 15 minutes longer then he should have. This one is a fun game.
Game 3 -> I go dual lair (Plexa after old vod night I had too!) I messed up my first drop, badly and from there it was pretty much over. Although I made it at least fun .
I lost 1/2 t.t for the day 3/2 =) at least I'm positive!

Yea, but I was hypothesizing. I honestly think Shallow deserves the icon, although I have not seen other games.

Unfortunately other then 5 hat no gas and double lair -> hydra drops I only did 1 fun move, my zvts where just me taking massive expands for no reason, and a moving lings/ultras/lurkers around. I stopped hotkeying ... =( I completely forgot to try and make pimp plays.

Can somebody who has watch alot of the reps find a few cute games and post the names/players/maps here, so I don't sift threw 20 + reps trying to find an entertaining 1.

What TL needs to do is have signups for a big open tourney just for fun. Make it a big randomized bracket (no group stages ala GOM Intel classic), reps get sent in, if someone doesn't show up to their match the opposing player gets a bye and advances to the next round and so on. Set up deadlines for rounds like "your Ro128 matches need to be finished by xx/xx/xx and reps sent to plexa".. it could be a month or two long laid back tournament. The prize is TL pride and some gg's.

I believe there have been these kinds of things in the past, but I'm definately in favor of it (again?). I remember the Hamachi Star League, which I think went through two seasons, both of which I was too late to sign up for so never really payed any attention to.

I would play in this, and I would get my 4 chobo friends to play in this.
(As long as either ICCup is allowed for 2 players who agree or forced for all matches).

Ive been watchign a lot of the reps, and so far my favorite has been AttackZerg vs Oyestien game 2 on Destination.That must have been intense.

Lol I was high for my first 2 games, you can tell the exact moment when I sobered up, it was on Destination vs. huameng and I had 8000 minerals, and only arbiter energy upgraded for my arbs, just one forge. Then the weedhaze lifted and I started macroing lol.
