Try to follow along; it isn't complicated. gH-Salv is my old account I used in season 6, I played Protoss there and got B-. Now I use that account for off racing, that's why it says Zerg now. Insight.Salv is what I use now. I don't deny that the game I played was pretty bad. Chill said it best: On November 18 2008 22:17 Chill wrote: I think it's a combination of things. I got B during TSL, which was clearly the hardest season of ICC. Also, he choked a little bit, making his play look really terrible, whereas I was very confident.

if it takes you 200 games to get to C and you can't win half of the games played at that level, yes you're "technically C" but the true rank won't be an accurate measurement of your level for example, even though Salv got to B-, his record breakdown is as follows: C+ = 2-5 C = 22-28 C- = 14-14 suggests his level is roughly around C- couple this disparity with Chill's B during the uber-difficult TSL season, the fact that chill has more pressure-game experience, and the ridiculous rape that was game 7 of the series doesn't really look that unexpected that's what a B/B+ player destroying a C/C- player looks like, its lopsided. yes salv played bad, there's no excuse for a C- player forgetting attack upgrade until your opponent has hive, but frankly the skill gap (C vs B) made it virtually impossible to win against a style like Chill's anyway. so people stop jumping on him for his icc rank and performance. sure he did reach B- but the most recent gamelist indicates his "true rank" is closer to C or C-, so the bad loss to chill was entirely normal and expected.

I know you asked Chill; but I've played every season to some degree and I can say that TSL was by far the hardest season. This one is the second closest, but TSL was still very, very difficult; even at low levels and late into the season. & Thanks Hotbid

He wasn't playing the builds that he was comfortable with but trying out what other people told him and stuff like that. I'm sure everyone else on ICCup only plays with builds they've practiced a million times. We use letter rankings as a way to judge people's skill level relative to one another. What I'm saying is the actual rank of Salv doesn't matter, just that he's several ranks below Chill. If you want to shift the entire scale up three ranks fine, that means Salv is B- and Chill is A, and the pros are like wraparound R+ or something. The game was lopsided and rightfully so, no amount of posturing around B-/B changes that. I suspect if they play 10 games Salv will struggle to win more than one. That's not a slight toward Salv or some huge Chill fanpost, but rather simply a declaration of the harsh reality of the difference in level between them. Chill knows this, Salv knows this, and everyone that watched knows this. What I find interesting is that the people who are most concerned with portraying themselves at a certain rank are usually those that a) have never really played games that truly "mattered" in a competitive sense or b) aren't truly the rank they present themselves to be. Do you see Nony or Inc or Idra or anyone like that obsessively debating whether they are A or A- or A+ or whatever? No, because they know how good they are and they don't need to come post about how "no you are wrong, I'm not C- I'm C+ at least!" Arguing about rank is a sign of weakness and insecurity, not strength. Who cares if a few people think Salv is C-? Are you really proving anything to people by simply declaring "Salv is C+, he wasn't trying his best during ladder season?" It seems you care more than Salv does, he's not making excuses or misrepresenting his own skill.

I sort of feel bad for sc2gg that way. If they had someone on the stream who could talk back, laugh a little, deal out some verbal punches, then it'd all be good. But this way, it's just chill and rage bullying poor moletrap and sc2gg. I dunno, just kinda makes me feel bad :S (The whole "this is all just for fun" kind of spirit is not shining through. like at all) I agree, i think we all knew and it was expected from tl.net to pull off such a convincing win, i had personally no doubts, as neither did so many people here to be honest. And shit talking is really fun when it goes back and forth, not so much when they cant do anything about it. On another note, moletrap did have it coming just because he kept saying "its not like were getting stomped on" or "a lot of games could have gone either way", because that was just NOT TRUE. Would have been better if he had just accepted defeat and maybe ask for tips :S. I dont know, it was just brutal.

Iccup ranks aren't set into stone and aren't created equal.

Which is why I just go back to how I used to respond before iccup was around... "Are you good?" "Good enough, go glhf."
