Have you ever wondered who was at the WCG grand finals from every country between 2001 to 2005, but were just too lazy to look it up?
I know I was, until recently.
I have compiled a list of each person who had attended the WCG grand finals in every year except the WCGC 2000 event, since they don't seem to ever want to update their page with it's players.

I like the fact that some of these Starcraft players turned to Warcraft 3 and made it to the WCG grand finals again for that game.

OMG Ranger! His play was uber smart. A lot of memories around this player, mostly on the russian scene, of course, but whatever. I miss him.
And I miss Nazgul! The WCG 2001 Netherlands finals between him and NTT made me go all like "OMG, that's the guy who CAN play pvt!"

nice newspost, thanx.

When you read whos top player now, how fast can old school players get their shape back and who was good back then (similar people usually) you wonder if foreign bw scene is dead. competion died, just reps and vods. Its true that there is huge gap between gaming environment of Korea and outer-lands but didn't we lose dynamics - where are new rising players?

Ah the good times
In 2000 and before, Germany's players weren't good at all
Kosh and Korn were okay, but compared to USA's, Canada's or Sweden's players, they were kinda bad. Rookie was absolutely amazing tho.
I remember playing him and getting owned ZvT baaadly and I considered myself top20 in germany back then. I got raped as if I played Mondragon today.
Mondragon was an active player, but not "even" top 10 in Germany (which wouldn't be too good either, since Germany was not that good as I said).
It was the times when you always had lots and lots of observers on marquis server (german server, germany's best + iDEF/X'Ds etc on there) even if you weren't a top player, because you had to observe to learn from the pros cuz there were no replays. I sooo miss those times, it was when I still had lots of fun playing bw ;(

If any of you know more players that were at the WCGC 2000, write it here.
I talked to my friend at ICM, who run WCG, and he told me that the WCGC were ran by a different company, who are no longo around.
So they don't have that info from the tournament anymore, I'm gonna help him put it together after WCG in Italy.

I have all the winners + players from the Quake event in 2000.

I know with 100% certainty that NTT got third in WCGC2000. It was probably single elimination, both NTT and daaman losing in semi-finals. They played a game for third place which NTT won.

Thus Daaman got fourth.

you say Scream participated only in 2001 and HOT in 2003, but I'm pretty sure I remember Scream beating HOT 486 on LT in the group stage, in one of the most ridiculous games ever. I can't remember which year it was though.

Very, very cool list anyway

Of course WCGC 2000 comes to mind first. It was just a great experience in general, for me as a kid, going to korea for the first time. Also, I haven't forgotten the fact that I placed one spot out of the big money spots (I was 5th, 4th place finisher got $4000). I'm also glad for meeting Nazgul and other players in Prague in 2003. Nazgul's a great friend.

He ended fifth actually (daaman). I actually remembered that it was the third Korean who placed 4th.

I played at the WCGC (UK). There was also Duellist.. And some other people whose names I forget (for the UK). I can't remember who won though - Go Rush? He was about 15 or something at the time.

The only people I remember who went were Sindread, Jester & Korn though.
