Wow, really surprised LGD.int isn't invited yet.

That being said, if VP is invited, there is no way they won't get invited.

The invites have been exactly what anyone who follows the scene would've expected. Last two spots might get a bit tricky, though. Expecting MUFC and LGD.Int, but we'll see.

Really glad to see Dignitas and VP in there, they really deserve it based on results, and they have the skills and potential as well.

I'd say LGD.int is probably a lock for one of the two, and then either MUFC or EG (I guess depending on whether valve counts LGD.int as a western or eastern team) for the other.

So we have

2 EU
2 NA
2 CIS
3 China
2 SEA

It seems balanced to me. My guess is we'll have a 4th chinese team and a kind-of-no-region team which is LGD.int

That makes it seven more invites. My prediction for the final 7 invites:

- Na'Vi
- DK
- Dignitas
- Zenith
- VP
- MUFC
- LGD.int

In order of confidence.

I think VP should be there, they are clearly the best Russian team, won the defense #3 and have done very well in most competitions in the past 2 months. Instead of MUFC this could also be another asian team, but I feel like they are most deserving. The last spott is really up for graps, this could just as well be EG or Mouz, or even another chinese team like VG...

My top 5 in "confidence". Certainly the correct choices, don't think anyone will argue much about them. However the next 2 invites will certainly be the most controversial.

Personally I stick with my prediction of MUFC and LGD.int. But I guess some teams can at least hope to slip into the last 2 slots, teams like EG, Mouz, VG and maybe RS come to mind...

I'm hoping for LGD.int and MUFC/Rattlesnake as the last two. Really happy for Dignitas and VP. Awesome teams absolutely deserving their spot.

my bet : Rox.Kis or Mouz for slot 1 and MUFC or LGD.int for slot 2

Most likely EG and LGD.int for last two slots. IMO MUFC deserves an invite more, but EG as the organization... Would be weird not to invite them.

LGD.Int are a lock, really.

After that its MUFC/EG or MAYBE Mouz. But its not mouz.

And I don't really think its EG either, although the rumours of a roster change could be something.

well it seems like this international gonna be a lot closer than last one (at least in group stage). i'm very happy for aui and the rest of dignitas, very deserved invite. i just hope they won't pick wisp xD.

That means

LGD.Int+1, the question is if it will be EG, Mouz or an Asian team.

I still think we can count the invites as defending champions (regardless of region) +12 (6/6 east/west split), in which case I think lgd.int and mufc are the most likely final 2.

Well, I did notice that Na'Vi have a "2011 Champions" title on that page (or some similar thing).

Argh I'm so excited for this lol. When can I buy my tickettttt???? (I assume after the last invites but before the qualifier results, dunno though).

So many people hoping for EG. That team will just get wrecked among this competition. Much better IMO to invite MUFC, many better games will be had as a result.

I think most people are assuming LGD.Int is the other invite. I can't really think of anyone else who deserves it more.

It is not unreasonable to think that EG is getting an invite over MUFC. MUFC's roster is fairly new and due to being in Asia is a lot lesser known. In terms of pure marketing power, EG has by far the upper hand.

I would really love to see MUFC though.

I think it will be LGD.int over EG. Even quality/performance aside surely LGD.int can't play in the west qualifier from China and don't really belong in the East qualifier.

at the moment its 6 teams from the west and 4 from the east (+ IG as the current champion). i think it will be 2 more eastern teams so probably lgd.int + mufc.

May 11th - Announced date and location, two more teams (Orange [3]& aL [4])
May 14th - coL [5] & iG [6]
May ?? - Loda joins Zenith (FREE LODA)
May 21st - EHOME [7] & two wild cards announced
May 23rd - CLG [8]
May 25th - EG [9], Zenith [10], Darer [11], LGD [12]
June 3rd - M5 [13] & MUFC [14]

So basically TI3 is the current G-1 with qualified teams (first 6 invitations: IG, LGD.cn, Orange, Alliance, TL) + well played almost qualified teams (following 5, NaVi, Zenith, Dignitas). With DK an exception since they did bad in the group stage and VP as they do have convincing results but not in G-1. So following these rules, next 2 invitations probably will be LGD.int + another Chinese/SEA team?

I doubt those are the rules, they are probably looking for adequate representation of each region at the minimum, and picking out the best teams out of there.

So LGD.int + MUFC/VG1

So LGD.int seems to be a lock for one of the invites. Who gets the last one? EG or MUFC? Maybe QPAD?

Then the next big thing is to see who plays in the Qualifiers. I wanna see RaTtLeSnAkE, who were fun to watch in the G-1 League qualifiers and VG (ZSMJ).

There's no reason for EG to get an invite over Mouz imo. Would like to see Mouz and LGD.int but I don't really know the Eastern scene too well so I expect LGD.int and a Chinese/SEA team.

I have strong feeling that LGD.int and EG will get the last 2. It will be quite odd to leave LGD.int out because given their results, i don't think there are many teams better than them. For EG, although they are going through a slump recently, their results are actually not bad. I am thinking that they are getting the last invite because they are in the process of sorting out final roster (bamboe in for bdiz or who knows @_@)
other than those 2, may be mouz and 1 more chinese team. while I really hope QPAD gets an invite also, the chance is very very slim because they are relatively new and achievement-wise, they did win some small tournaments but just doesn't have impressive enough results in tournament with big names :-<

Yes me too, I really cant argue with any of the invites this year and the qualifiers are going to be intense compared to last year.

I'm hoping for VG to see some ZSMJ's Dusa, but probably wont happen.

Might be in the qualifiers though

I dont understand why everyone hating so much on EG... They been playing very unstable for a while, but they gave nth a good run in DH finals, they did decent in some of the G1 games and they have been owning in random games here and there.
I dont think Dignitas or VP has shown alott more last 6-7 months...

And why is CIS being filtered as a "own" zone?, CIS is Europe...

Im predicting EG and LGD.int for last 2 invites, and I really hope for VG to make it through the quals, seeing some great games from them after the rotation. In August, they will most likely be a seriouse contender even for the championship!

I hope you are trolling right now. To compare the results of EG (post dh, which is about 6 months ago) to the results of VP and Dignitas? short of TPL, dignitas made the finals of the D2L, won the RDL, finals of Dreamhack Invite, third in the Defense, and did well in G-1 qualifiers. VP has also made starladder finals, won the defense, 2nd in RDL 2nd in the premier league S3, and 3rd in TPL S4.

Eg has done? nothing except beaten dignitas in G1 league.

The last slots are going to LGD.int and MUFC/Mouz. EG doesn't deserve an invite with their results since Dreamhack. Even Mouz is a stretch to me. MUFC deserves it the most after LGD.int imo

This. how on earth does EG even come close to dignitas or vp in last 6 months results? lol.

LGD.int is in for sure and second one should be mouz or MUFC. Other than that nothing to complain about so far. Really hope EG doesn't get an invite only because of them being a big brand/lobbying/whatever. Their results since DH have been close to non-existent.

Empire won't get an invite too much roster changes recently. However, they have a legit chance at winning the qualifiers (or at least runner-upping their way to Seattle )

I wouldnt be so sure about it, last year Darer and M5 got invited over teams like mTw. Cis community is huge so invite for Roxkis or even Empire is not impossible.

So far so good, this is what you would expect. I'm certain that LGD.int is qualified also. The last spot is a bit trickier, close call with MUFC > EG > Mouz in order of expectation.

I really think MUFC deserves one of the last two invites. They've been playing really well in 2013, winning a number of tournaments and placing well in others. They've been beating Orange fairly consistently and make a strong case for themselves as the number one SEA team right now.

None of the other teams left have been winning tournaments. LGD.int came second in G-League, but that really isn't all that impressive when you look at who they beat to do it. The only 'big 3' Chinese team they managed to beat was LGD.cn, and they train with them(and so have extensive experience with their play style). They have yet to beat IG or DK once in an official match and they couldn't make it to the G1 league playoffs.

To add to that, right now there are 6 western and 5 eastern teams invited. Given that eastern teams have typically been stronger, inviting two more western teams(so it would be 8 western and 5 eastern) feels a bit unfair. I count LGD.int as a western team and we already have decent representation from NA, CIS and Europe.

After MUFC I guess LGD.int and EG are possibilities. If I were Valve I'd go with EG because last year the crowd really got behind all the NA teams and that's the kind of energy and excitement they probably want. I also think VG are looking better and better, plus they have the ZSMJ star factor. But I guess they will most likely be in the qualifier. Luckily I think they are strong enough to get through the eastern qualifier.

Given the amount of drama over 'omg no LGD.int', I almost wish they would've left Na`Vi to the last 2 invites just so I could watch the internet explode.

I don't think MUFC makes a case for #1 SEA team. They have a case for top 3 behind Zenith / Orange, not sure if that's enough for a invite.

On the other hand, if you said 2 month ago that Empire most likely won't make to TI3, people would laugh at your arse.

Looking great so far. I'm so hyped for this!

It's between LGD.int, EG and MUFC. We didn't see much of EG this year but they have a lot of fans in North America. Maybe they will get invited because of that. In my opinion, EG and LGD.int will get invited.

I can't wait for qualifiers.

EG might get invited due to their popularity, LGD.int definitely will get an invite. It's gonna be tough deciding between EG and MUFC.

It won't be EG. With Empire's roster now maybe they will but I don't think so.

It should very well be MuFC and LGD.int. They really are the two most deserving to get invited.

So that throws EG, Empire, Kaipi and dd.dota to Qualifers.

Hoping LGD.int and EG getting last invites. Between MUFC/EG, it's hard, but yeah..

Lots of teams for qualifiers though.

LGD.int based on their results would have to count as a China/Sea team.

Invited
Previous Champions (2) : IG, Na'Vi (probably the "2012 Champions" and "2011 Champions" label serve this purpose)
West (5): Alliance, Fnatic.eu, Virtus Pro, Team Liquid, Dignitas
East (4) : LGD.cn, Orange, Zenith, DK

Remaining invites : 2
For the sake of balance, logically they need to invite an Eastern team + 1 cross regional team (like aL last year). Therefore
East : MUFC/VG
Cross Regional : LGD.int

In the end, we will have:
2 previous Champions
5 invited Western teams
5 invited Eastern teams
1 qualified Western team
1 qualified Eastern team
1 invited cross-regional team
1 wild card team

Seems like this is the most fair, and therefore EG is unlikely to get an invite

Thinking it over I have my doubts about LGD.int in spite of how good they are. I strongly suspect Empire will get an invite.

Neither Eg nor empire deserve an invite... while empire have seemingly infinitely more results than EG. they've had infinitely more roster changes, so much so that the new empire is a completely new team. EG, while having a comparably more stable roster, havent played almost at all this past year.

Comparably MUFC are a new team with a bit of a rotating door lineup although it has stabilized recently. While they do have many results against strong teams, if valve are classifying LGD.int as an eastern team, theyll be out of luck.

That being said there is simply no way LGD.int arent invited. They've had a stable lineup since formation, had tremendous results against all of the invited asian teams theyve played, and for all of those who claim EG deserves an invite because of the organization (???) LGD is a roughly equivalent organization in the dota scene!

LGD.int +1 for last ^^

Seems legit.
I really wanted a bigger opponent, like Nate Marquardt, or King Neptune, or Zeus, or Zeus and Fedor, or Fedor on Zeus's shoulders, and they can both punch but only Zeus can kick.
