Truly some great games. Just liked I hoped, MMA is doing great. I think Providence helped give him that push he needed. If all goes well he might take this! MVP will be a challenge though.

I completely understand that clearly this was a super shitty thing to do. Naniwa was out of line and his frustration and cockiness clearly got to him. But what exactly is the issue here? Naniwa did something childish and immature because he was upset? All this means is that eSports are no different than every other sport on the planet. Zidan headbutted an opposing player. Ron Artest beat the shit out of a bunch of fans. Tie Domi sprayed water at a fan then broke his nose. These are professional players under stress expected to perform well and when they don't, they get frustrated and make insanely stupid decisions.

Now, is Naniwa wrong for what he did? Of course he is. He was essentially saying "Fuck this tournament I don't even care any more". Which is immature and childish. But do I think everyone needs to take it easy and relax? Yes. Naniwa is human. Although according to his StarCraft II play almost seems like an android. But that's neither here nor there. The point is, Naniwa made a stupid decision on a game that, as he made clear "didn't mean anything" and was trying to prove a point that didn't need to be made. Naniwa and Nestea will lick their wounds, shake hands and forget all about this soon. And so should you.

Uhh, kind of a strange group of examples to use.

- Zidane was thrown out of the game for the headbutt and suspended for three more (did three days of community service instead since he had already announced his retirement).
- Ron Artest was suspended for a 73 games, which resulted in approximately $5 million USD salary lost.
- Tie Domi was fined $1000 for his fight with the fan.

Now, Naniwa didn't fight anyone or hurt anyone physically. So whatever happens to him shouldn't be on the same level as those previous three. However, he did deny the fans from seeing an entertaining rematch with someone who is quickly becoming his rival. He also wasted a chance to further get into Nestea's head before a potential GSL meeting. Neither of those are my biggest dissapointment in him.

I'm not good enough to legitimately play for money. I can enter an open tournament, but I have no expectations of winning. Instead, I just play for pride. All I ever get to do is play for pride. Now here's Naniwa with an opportunity to play for pride and he chooses not to play. He might as well go up to everyone who isn't a tournament player and tell us all that our play is meaningless. That if he was in our position, he wouldn't play at all. It's a slap to the face of every casual player. Despite what he said during his departure from Complexity recently, it seems like the only thing that actually matters to him is the money. Once that's out of the picture, he'd rather just go home.

Despite all that, I can't really think of an appropriate punishment for him. There probably shouldn't be any official punishments. However, he certainly doesn't sound like someone who I'd ever cheer for. In the end, actions like this may cost him a lot more money than just one missed tournament prize.
Playing better than standard requires deviation. This divergence usually results in sub-standard play.

He is human. So are the other people you cited. Unfortunately, they are also representatives of his team, sponsors, and fans. And all the players you listed got punished in some way. What people are angry at Naniwa for isn't the probe rush, its the meaning behind it.

Basically it was a giant FU to everyone, and that isn't right for people who follow him and believe in him. People pay to watch the tournament, and if you sing that contract, you better know what you're getting yourself into. And if he really cared about the game and his fans, he would play the game as a showmatch of use it as practice. Instead, he makes a selfish decision because the game, his fans, sponsors, team, etc are not his priorities while playing publicly in front of thousands of people. It seems as though when money is out, he stops caring while Nestea was prepared to give it all he had for his fans and for his pride.

That picture is awesome! This write-up was excellent, as always, and I agree with the predictions.

I want to see if Leenock has studied MC and will prepare for timing attacks or just go into another series knowing he should win.

It's been a while since I belted out such laughter on the internet. When I saw that poster I was like, "Oh, this must have been made before Nani played... hm... what does... OH, ROFL."
