[SC2B] Liquipedia II

When the original Liquipedia was launched, Starcraft had been around for more than a decade. Much of the knowledge of the game was all but complete. This time, it's all different. Definite information about this game is sparse. We have stiff competition, it's not only us who strive to be the most valuable, the most complete resource on Starcraft II. It's us vs. them.
We therefore invite you to take a short tour through our new property, and we ask for your dedication and willpower to make it work. Teamliquid lives through its users, and together, we will make this new wiki great. The whole staff of Liquipedia is ready and dedicated to making the best out of your contributions. Don't hesitate to ask - we're here.
The tour begins, to:
1. Two wikis as one
We chose to open a completely new namespace for the new wiki. This prevents unneeded overlaps,so you don't have to dig through Boxer's entire SC1 career in order to find his SC2 accomplishments.
The most important feature is linking between the wikis. It is as simple as entering:

[[sc2:Zergling]]
Instance 1 will link to Liquipedia I. Instance 2 to Liquipedia II. It's this easy. Our thanks go to MasterofChaos for the technical support.
2. A complete redesign

I cannot describe how thankful I am to have such skilled graphical artists as those at Teamliquid. Denotate made us a new skin in the shortest possible time, while ZeroCartin did not make just a single new logo, but six to select from - and trust me, the decision was abysmally hard.
3. Units and Maps
As common in Liquipedia I, we have pages outlining the statistics, upgrades, and general use of all units. In a similar fashion, we are listing all maps, adding the layout and pointing out vital spots. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Units and http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Maps are something to work on right now, and I strongly encourage everyone to start there. Flicky, Mystlord, Plexa, Mrmin123, TheFallofTroy, Imperator and Carnac have done a great job at getting us started there.
4. Leagues and Players
It hasn't been long since the first tournaments have been played and/or announced, but they already found their way into our wiki space. We have the ESL tournaments, the  Zotac Cup, as well as the Hello-Goodbye cup, run by randomKo_Orean and sponsored by you, the TL users. The thanks go to Julmust, who already was a league-a-holic in Liquipedia I (adding most of 2009 Pokerstrategy.com TSL).
5. Strategy
Keeping track of http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Strategy besides the almighty http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Zatic_Build will be the most trouble for us all. We ask you to be as conservative as possible, only to insert sure information and not to add any new build that surfaces. Do use the discussion pages extensively so that we know why what was changed. Awesome, the original liquipedia was THE best source for starcraft info, I have no doubt that liquipedia 2 will do the same.

Great! Hopefully everyone with a beta account from TL chips in if they have something to add - it's a great opportunity to start one of these wikis from scratch and have it truly complete.

Nice! Was thinking about this the other day. Yeah this will be a great source of sc2 info and I will definitely be following along.

Whoa man, you guys are the best!
I, and most others (I assume), had kinda given up on liquipedia1, since sc2 was right around the corner. This is just amazing, and I have a feeling that this is gonna be a pretty big deal for the majority of the incoming sc2 scene.

There is no real NDA on this beta - people are allowed to share replays, stream, do tournaments, do wikis.

Awesome. My concern is though, which one will be linked to by "Liquipedia" at the top of TL!? Is it going to change to Liquipedia II when SC2 is released? Madness.

Blizzard has said openly on their forums that people are encouraged to spread the word about SC2 (even though it doesn't make a difference since everybody on earth wants SC2!)

it might be kinda early to start adding bos tho, since everyone is experimenting and learning stuff all the time. maybe u should focus on other stuff (theres alot ^^)

There will be a page for Bio, possibly related to CowGoMoo, but as with any game, it's hard to know exactly who created which builds for certain. If you're enjoying his replays, note down some build orders, test them out and see how it works. If it goes well, you can add them.

With the fan's help, this should be very possible. However, right now we're generally doing players that have a bit of history in other games and have won a tournament or played in important showmatches.

If you want to write an article, just make a log-in (not essential, but it helps keep track of things) and just submit it. Everything has to be checked by an Editor so there's no worry if it isn't up to scratch. If it is missing something, we'll contact you easily enough and work on it to get it readable.

Well, there's not a whole lot else to do right now so there's plenty of time for strategies. We're being rather selective at the moment and every build we have is currently very commonly used.

As awesome as this is I'm concerned there's gonna be a hell of a lot of disagreement on what to put and what not to put in the strategy section :p

Nope. It's especially absurd considering beta's only been out a few weeks and its viability may or may not even exist in the coming months. If you become Bisu with it, then you can name it after yourself.

God it's so empty.... The news post asks you to be a bit conservative with what you add, but honestly, anything goes at this point in the development of the beta where ANYTHING goes (pretty much).

i dont think u put the shields COUNT like u put HP 100 but no shields on zealots in sc2, i dont have beta, but i think that is incorrect!

edit2: i just seen it on a stalker too, so im guessing there are no more shields on protos units or soemthing.. thats gay.

except I'm pretty sure it was named after Zatic after Zatic had a lot of success with it in one of the pre-beta playings (Blizzcon maybe?), and thus people named it after him.
So, really, its not about ego. Zatic just came up with a legitimate build in a short amount of time which was named after him.

I have to add though, that the page is very bright and very dark in a sort-of uneven fashion. Perhaps a slight gray/blue shade in the main window whould help it out a bit. Also slightly lighter background on the side-bar texts things. The ones with the blue background.

urk, make sure you guys add to the liquipedia "builds to try" thread. the liquipedia staff collectively dosen't get enough time to play, so it's kind of hard for us to get strict build order timings for everything that ends up working. Example: warp gate rush, written up by Nazgul. Build order for it? What gets the warpgates up the fastest?

If anyone wants an easy way to help the wiki (i do this all the time). Just type in a slang word for a unit/structure and if the page comes up blank, hit create. and type in the redirect to the actual name of the thing which would look like this: #REDIRECT [[Proper unit name here]] then save page.

You can even do redirects for pluralizations and lower case/caps.
