While I have actually been to Italy my perception is probably horribly biased due to traveling to EU as a tourist (thus not driving much myself) as opposed to living and commuting daily in my native city.

I think I was reaching for the cultural thing as a way of explaining where stereotypes might arise from. I should have played it safe and used the “British ppl drive on the left”
I can take that responsibility.

Personally I tend to be most bothered by drivers who feel like they own the road. You know the people who bob and weave in and out of traffic playing the “me first” game. Who, despite knowing full well their lane is ending, will zoom as far past as many people as possible before merging over.

I find it odd how there is a thread of thought that gender has any bearing on driving ability, when clearly there is no difference between men and woman drivers. I do have to concede that there are cultural differences in driving. One thing I notice is that in EU drivers tend to use car horns as an alert whereas in the US drivers tend to use it as a shout (usually in anger at traffic or telling someone to go).

Proof you've never been to Italy.

The crosswalks there are for decoration, and the horn is a vent for frustration.

I live in New Jersey, our largest ethnic group is Italian (like 18% tbh, but it approaches 100 the farther away from the cities you get), and that last sentence applies to the roads here. The apple doesn't really fall far from the tree.

This 100%. Nothing angry about the honking in the Netherlands Though of course that's just one country so maybe not 100% lol. But it's definitely a difference I noticed coming here from the States.

Though Lex's insistence that there were no bad drivers in the Netherlands who selfishly do dangerous things was of course a rose-colored glasses statement. To be fair, though, it's the exception. And he said it while I was driving us through Dallas Ft. Worth lol >< (And no, despite Slam's studies - which obviously I know are talking about statistically significant trends - it wasn't actually a critique on my driving. I am the "fortunate" one in the family who after living in San Antonio for years always ends up driving in cities because other people be scary man >< rofl. Poor Lex can barely stand to be in the car when Dad is driving.)

For the uninitiated, Lex is ArtanisXP and is being chicken-shit and not joining us. He blames work. We all know better >> (We also can't play in the same game together 'cause I can't keep a secret but shhh that's not a factor at all.)

My city has an italian pocket and the area is notorious for road rage incidents. My city also has a vietnamese area where the crash rate is more than double the surrounding suburbs. Its like they brought the driving culture with them when they moved here!

Being a half-blood italian-austrian I'll tell you that I literally dislike most Austrians in interpersonal relationships. I don't know if it's the language which is notoriously rigid but when I'd have to rank people by capacity of socializing and just generally having a good time, the US would rank top (the openness of peeps in the southwest left me baffled), followed by Italy (without being able to estimate other cultures, Spain is probably cool too). Austria would rank somewhere at the bottom along with North Korea.

It seems to me that socializing in Austria either comes down to doing sports together, or hammering yourself with alcohol and cigarettes on weekends. Good luck inviting people to dinner around here (it mostly seems inappropriate unless you're related or really close friends), but in Italy it's like the most common thing in the world, just like simply hanging out.

That said, I'd rather live among chaotic, lazy and sometimes ill-tempered, but friendly peeps than super-efficient hobby-alcoholic bores. If you find political correctness you can keep it.

There we go, talking about traffic.

TIME TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT- TO RESEARCH!

Where do you buy clothes? Specify your

I’ll start. I shop at lol, rich kid just keeps what his parents bought around college age, it all fits and it lasts because good clothes are also durable much of the time for men’s.

But,
Ralph Lauren and J. Crew come to mind.

Most of my clothes are from metal concerts or the thrift store. I was born with a penis.

Plain white t-shirts from Primark for me. I don't feel as bad cutting nipple holes in them and writing 'slut' all over them in lipstick.

HELL YEAAA

Wait what kind of clothes do you get at a concert? They sell clothes to music?

I haven’t been to anything, not even an orchestra or some such. Like I can see it now, some booth in front of an opera house selling tuxedos or polos or something

Primark does men's and women's clothing, and yeah its like the cheapest clothes store in the UK. Its where students and people like me go.

I like my poor quality clothing to be dangerously stitched by children in countries with no health and safety legislation.

I was just about to mention this, holy shit

Bones stitched into clothing, damn this industry seems to be largely about taking advantage of destitute Asians, but hot damn even the Gap doesn’t have stuff this bad

Wow.

Hey but what is Next directory then? I used to work for their advert department on contract when they were in LA.

You mean Next, as in the clothing store? It's a UK clothing, shoe and homeware store.

As for clothing, mine run the gamut from budget to designer, plus whatever I need for work. Not brand loyal or anything. Whatever works.

+ Show Spoiler +
I'm also half tempted to change the topic to whisky, but that may result in me getting shot so I won't.

I guess directory was in the website name. Or their advert department.

I am deeply interested in the corporate side of textiles but whiskey works too. I tried some glenfiddich recently and wasn’t half bad

I quite enjoyed it

So far J Crew is the only ethical textiles I have found. Even (slam positively biased company) has had some issues with suppliers, it can apparently be really hard to stay on top of that.
