Plus it makes people have to take a stance in the thread during a cycle where we don't get the information from a lynch. The vote is really the only alignment indicative info we have on day one, aside from the random nuke or something. Sure, player A can call player B scum, but without a lynch or anything to enforce it, it is pretty empty.
