For what it's worth (probably not much) I did do a quick check of his last 3 mafiagames at some point yesterday, and at least in the first couple of pages of each, he didn't claim VT (which he does quite regularly as town).

of course there remains the fact that this could be the game, but it's still a thing, maybe

In general terms I largely agree with this; it's a great compliment to say that in interactive conversation he's generally persuasive and sounds pretty genuine as mafia.
