i used to play fighting games competitively. lots more fun than the sc2 scene imo, because you actually get travel and compete as much as you want, regardless of your skill level.

yeah it's fun. i live near dallas, and i've traveled to oklahoma, georgia, cali, and all around texas for events. there's always lots of alcohol and other stuff involved and you need to have thick skin, usually the fg community attracts a rough crowd.

well that money match wasn't sponsored by the tournament, it was a private thing set up by the two players. the dallas guy was backed by all his friends from texas and the vegas guy was backed by a pro poker player from vegas. it was just another match in a long series of grudge matches between the two. the game was marvel vs capcom 2 which is really old now, the only people who still play it are the people who are really good.
