Tonight we will be debuting a brand new video mafia show at 9pm est. over at http://www.twitch.tv/Ryuzilla. This game will include players from e-sportsmafia.com, dailymafia.com, Teamliquid mafia forums, and 2+2 mafia forums. I have scoured the internet for the most dedicated and proven mafia players, and this show will be a battle of wits as mafia and town are pitted against each other. This will be a game filled with active players, that will bring new strategies to the table, passion to the game, and a fearless approach to both town and mafia.
We will be playing two games, and both should be highly competitive and exciting! See you tonight.
Ya sick plays by Hapa. I'm sure it helped that he had genuine frustration at being REPEATEDLY stepped on in the conversations. That really worked out well for him.
I still think the cycles were a bit too long to hold my attention in a single sitting, but it does seem like it has improved compared to past games.
I know the no-flip aspect was brought up in the other thread, but waiting until the end of the game to learn all alignments does seem less interesting from an observer perspective. If it's a balance issue, town roles could always be nerfed or the mafia team could be given a 1-shot janitor to allow for fake claims. Roles could still remain hidden upon death. In a game where time is limited, I'm not sure the focus should be considering all the possible scenarios for the alignments of dead players, rather than coming to conclusions based on known alignments.
I always wondered if like, you got some Tim Roth looking dude watching the screen, tilting his head sideways and twitching, and then says "X, I see your eyebrows just had a minor rise when you mentioned Y was scum, I could also see your pupils dilated, and blood flow to your cheeks. This clearly shows you are scumbuddies with Y" and find the whole scumteam.

SIX HOURS WTF
Okay, I may just randomly go through the video. Is there any specific point in time where some wicked plays and shenannigans occur? I can't miss those
I know that seems like a long vod, but that was 2 games, not one. It's also a little more fun watching in real time, because you can interact with twitch chat and call me mafia, and be wrong. I would just skip forward to where greymist busts out the magic and ignore the rest. People ignored me and we lost both games, no point in watching. LOL.
Boone sick play by the way - you refused to play next week is that a joke or do you have something going on? Next time you should play you should totes magotes wrest control of town from naysayers by touting your fantastic reads this week.

Well at least you did your best! ^_^ I nearly died laughing.

I always refuse to play at the end of a game where town throws... but I play regardless. I play nearly every day, I love the game even though it seems to hate me. Thanks, by the way, that was awesome to hear!

#ShotsFired
Well, the scumteams suck there too so it balances out
lol nah TL towns are worse
EDIT: Granted, I only remember OMGUS towns from games I was in as town, so of course they were the best towns
Anyways, I thought Hapa's super scum play was from the 1st game and I was like "wow" because he was like the only one making sense (granted I only viewed the first 5 minutes). But then he was town I suppose.
Oh, forgot there are no flips in those games. So you don't know if there are 1000 mafia alive, or 2. I would just call everybody mafia and yell until the game ends. Also maybe make some fart jokes. You can't fail with those, specially if you can make actual farts

I told him the same thing.
Need to buy webcam! Maybe this IP webcam thing can work with my tablet.
Also, I want to host some TLMafia video games. Probably pretty small at first, given the difficulty of arranging this kind of thing, but definitely worth it to gain some experience for all of us in the video format.

I'll still play with them, of course, but it would be nice to have a place to experiment with other TLmafia players.
Yeah that makes sense. Maybe we can play some games that have actual flips :OOOOO

I think the format is fine without flips, else the game would be absurdly town-favored.
In live mafia settings, no-flip is standard anyway.

I'm sure that anyone familiar with my town-play in forum or voice would have caught me by Day 2 easy.

Don't let Yamato fool you, he was convinced you were town.
Yeah I was told before joining this to play at dailymafia, but jumping into a bunch of video mafia games with people I don't know just doesn't seem as much fun. It's a social thing imo; in forum mafia the anonymity level is higher so it's easier to just jump in as a stranger, but when there is inherent recognizability in voice/faces my motivation to try and 'make new friends/fit in' all over again is very low. Much easier to do so when there are a few people you already know.
Essentially doubt I'd play this if I have to 'practice' by playing on dailymafia first.

If you are at all interested in playing video, dailymafia is pretty nice from what I've seen so far. It's basically a huge Skype group with community-run casual games every night.
Like this was my first mafia game with this group (and I haven't played with Fool or Mattchew before on video either), but it was a blast to just jump in. It's also a nice feeling to play when no one has expectations of you :3

Eh....I'm a social gamer by nature (for example, I stopped playing WoW when many of my friends stopped), and while I could easily jump into games like that, the motivation for me to do so is kinda low. It's not so much that I'm interested in playing video, I'm interested in playing in THIS video-game, and if I have to prove myself first then my motivation is much lower. I suppose that's exactly what they're trying to weed out so whatever, but I know I'd be amazing at it.

I would be 100% down to mod a game for you guys if you want to start doing some private games with you guys and a few of us.
Well, we could make a thread, I know that storr, mattchew and phil would all be in. I could get a few other people that are familiar with you guys, like Rick (mirks), Templar and banks. Then even if you just round up a handful of people, we'd have a good game.
That would be awesome! So, I probably shouldn't be the one to make a post about it, as I am not well known and won't stir up much excitement. Anyone else up for starting a thread?
Technically we are already trying to start doing video mafia in the TL Community Thread... its just scheduling all the 15 players or whatever that have signed up to play at once. We might be playing this weekend.
Boone, I invited a few of them last night to play with us in their IRC channel. A couple expressed interest, minus rayn who bitched about language barrier

I actually bitched about webcam a lot more (which is actually the reason i could not possibly play - the language barrier is just an excuse for myself to not get a webcam because i am lazy ^^).
I realized i actually might have a webcam so sure i'll play.

You just don't want us to see your pimples! Admit it!
I'd consider playing as long as Wave and Rayn are playing. If I could choose to add anyone it'd be Koshi but I've never even seen him in voice mafia ;_;

Nah it's my stunning good looks. No one would be able to concentrate.
I'd play in either the game you suggested boone or the one HF is trying to get set up here. Maybe the two can be combined...?

Koshi can't play voice mafia because whenever he opens his mouth i know his alignment.
If you think you can get a game of video mafia going with TL people you can make a new thread about it. Whoever is organizing this shoot me a PM about it.
lol he was scum. yeah i knew when his reasoning for thinking someone was scum was being "they were asking a lot of questions." He has deeper analysis as town.
Hapa I was with you on Pope in game 1. His defense almost swayed me, but Hoya 2 stronk. I tell you what I tell Pope. Dude gets paid to do it. Probably very well indeed.
On April 09 2014 14:15 OnceKing wrote: super curious, how come you guys use a night start and don't do flips?
Some people say the game is too easy if there are flips. As a viewer, I think the more fun thing about no-flip games is that people can lie about roleclaims. Someone may admit cop with a check D1 and whether you lynch their claim or not, you have no idea if they are lying unless there's a change in KP (and who knows if that's because of a medic/roleblock/vet/etc). It just makes for some funny drama!
The video players may feel there are other reasons, though :3
