Day 2 There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. As yamato, ange and rayn were puzzling over the implications of this rule, their heads exploded. yamato77, CID Investigator, Ange777, Major Sanderson and Raynpelikoneet, Milo Minderbinder are dead. 'I don't want your sympathy. I just want you to know what I'm going through. I came down to warn you that Washington Irving seems to have shifted his base of operations from the hospital to your squadron. You haven't heard anyone around here talking about Washington Irving, have you?' 'As a matter of fact, I have,' Major Major answered. 'That man who was just in here. He was talking about Washington Irving.' 'Was he really?' the first C.I.D. man cried with delight. 'This might be just what we needed to crack the case wide open! You keep him under surveillance twenty-four hours a day while I rush back to the hospital and write my superiors for further instructions.' The C.I.D. man jumped out of Major Major's office through the window and was gone. You are the C.I.D. Investigator. After arriving at this base to investigate the Washington Irving incident, it has come to your attention that another man is posing as a CID Investigator! Your mission is to find this man and kill him before he can do the same to you. Each cycle you may communicate anonymously with another player (the same player can be picked more than once and you may choose whether or not to reveal your identity) in a QT. The target to communicate with for the next cycle must be submitted by the end of each night (except for the first cycle in which the person to talk to can be chosen at any time). Alignment checks on you will work as if you were a member of the town and you are not considered anti-town. In addition, you have the following one-shot powers (only 1 use per game) to use at night, two of which may be used in a single night: 1) Hide behind another player (you will be immune to shots aimed at yourself but any shots aimed at the other player will also hit you). 2) Check their military records to determine if they are a fake C.I.D. Investigator. 3) Drug their food with a poison that only kills fake C.I.D. Investigators and that bypasses any form of protection. "But I make a profit of three and a quarter cents an egg by selling them for four and a quarter cents an egg to the people in Malta I buy them from for seven cents an egg. Of course, I don't make the profit. The syndicate makes the profit. And everybody has a share." Milo was not only the Vice-Shah or Oran, as it turned out, but also the Caliph of Baghdad, the Imam of Damascus, and the Sheik of Araby. Milo was the corn god, the rain god and the rice god in backward regions where such crude gods were still worshipped by ignorant and superstitious people, and deep inside the jungles of Africa, he intimated with becoming modesty, large graven images of his mustached face could be found overlooking primitive stone altars red with human blood. Everywhere they touched he was acclaimed with honor, and it was one triumphal ovation after another for him in city after city. You are Milo Minderbinder, the squadron mess officer and CEO of M&M Enterprises! Once per game during the day, you may pay off the Germans to launch a bombing attack on another player by typing ##Bomb: Player in the thread. This attack will kill them and must be launched at least 12 hours before the end of the day. It will resolve at the end of the day. 'Does it?' cried Major Sanderson with delight, as though unable to believe his ears. 'Now we're really getting somewhere! Do you ever have any good sex dreams?' 'My fish dream is a sex dream.' 'No, I mean real sex dreams - the kind where you grab some naked bitch by the neck and pinch her and punch her in the face until she's all bloody and then throw yourself down to ravish her and burst into tears because you love her and hate her so much you don't know what else to do. That's the kind of sex dreams I like to talk about. Don't you ever have sex dreams like that?' Yossarian reflected a moment with a wise look. 'That's a fish dream,' he decided. You are Major Sanderson, the camp psychologist! Each night, you may talk to another person and attempt to determine their alignment as either Town or Anti-Town. Since you're a little out of practice, your diagnoses may be unreliable (you may be either Sane, Insane, Paranoid, or Naive). You win with the town. Sane: Your checks will be correct. Insane: Your checks will return the opposite of what they should. Paranoid: All checks will return Anti-Town. Naive: All checks will return Town. It is now Day 2. Night 3 So, Acrofales was walking along peacefully, when HiroPro called to him: "have you read the book?" "err..." "well, I need you to make the nightpost" "err..." HiroPro got really angry, because his cohost hadn't read this literary masterpiece, pulled out his gun and started aiming. Acro, as always nimble on his feet, quickly skipped behind goodkarma, who happened to be passing by. Not that it mattered, his gun had a system crash and needed some custom firmware written. However, Acro's sudden movements woke up a pack of wild bears that tore goodkarma to shreds. goodkarma as Gus & Wes was lynched! Their names were Gus and Wes and they had succeeded in elevating medicine to an exact science. All men reporting on sick call with temperatures above 102 were rushed to the hospital. All those except Yossarian reporting on sick calll with temperatures below 102 had their games and toes painted with gentian violet solution and were given a laxative to throw away into the bushes. All those reporting on a sick call with temeperatures of exactly 102 were asked to return in an hour to have their temperatures taken again. Yossarian, with his temperature of 101, could go to the hospital whenever he wanted to because he was not afraid of them. You are Gus & Wes, the doctor's assistants. Each night, you may visit another player, paint their gums and toes purple, and send them to the hospital (protecting them from a single night hit and roleblocking them). Endgame Coagulation, as Dobbs had no real clue what was going on. He didn't even know why he was alive. People around him were dropping like flies, but not him. He had spent his only bullet and was just waiting for it all to end. "Dudes, he's scum", he'd yell from time to time as a horde of crazies came by, but he hadn't really paid much attention to the goings on since gloriously blasting Milo Minderbender in the face. Still savouring that moment he opened the door to his office, and was stunned. He had walked straight into a game show with insane host Monty Hall: "WELCOME Coagulation, to today's final round of who's the scummer?! We have reloaded your gun for you and you get one single shot to shoot the last mafia! But beware. We have cleverly disguised him as a townie, so choose well!" Coag took one look at the stage, where he saw Oatsmaster, slOosh and ObviousOne, all painted green. "Oh, this is easy. I will shoot slOosh" he yelled and started to aim. "Wait!" said Monty Hall, "this game has a twist! Before you shoot, I will now prove to you that one of the other two is NOT scum", and with that a trapdoor opened beneath Oatsmaster, whose green blood spurted everywhere. Coagulation looked on in horror, but he had to think quickly. Bayesian probability commanded him: switch! "But read the thread!" ObviousOne implored. "Don't you remember how I have been the towniest of townies. How I pushed for us to kill the evil Captain Black back on day 1? All to no avail. "Reading the thread is for pussies!!!" yelled Coagulation as he aimed at ObviousOne. Everybody held their breath as Coag pulled the trigger, and the crowd erupted in joy as Lieutenant Scheiskopff's RED blood squirted all over the floor. The game has ended in a TOWN victory! Marvellosity, the CID Investigator, came back from his retirement for a second to congratulate the town and invite them all over to his VICTORY jacuzzi party in the Bahamas. ObviousOne, Lieutenant Scheiskopff was given an honorable burial for putting up a hell of a fight. + Show Spoiler + Lieutenant Scheisskopf smacked his hands over his eyes in exasperation. It was the despair of Lieutenant Scheisskopf's life to be chained to a woman who was incapable of looking beyond her own dirty, sexual desires to the titanic struggles for the unattainable in which noble man could become heroically engaged. 'Why don't you ever whip me?' she pouted one night. 'Because I haven't the time,' he snapped at her impatiently. 'I haven't the time. Don't you know there's a parade going on?' You are Lieutenant Scheisskopf, the squadron training commander and lover of parades! Each night, you may order a player to practice marching, preventing them from carrying out any actions that night. Coagulation, Dobbs went out for a beer. + Show Spoiler + 'I'm not shouting!' Dobbs shouted louder, his face red with revolutionary fervor. His eyes and nostrils were running, and his palpitating crimson lower lip was splattered with a foamy dew. 'There must have been close to a hundred men in the group who had finished their fifty-five missions when he raised the number to sixty. There must have been at least another hundred like with just a couple more to fly. He's going to kill us all if we let him go on forever. We've got to kill him first.' You are Dobbs, the worst pilot in the squadron! Tired of flying missions for Colonel Cathcart, you've managed to acquire a gun with a single bullet, which you can use at night. However, if you aim your gun at a member of the town, you will commit suicide after shooting them. You win with the town. slOosh, Doc Daneeka took some valium for the gameshow fright and then danced on OO's grave. + Show Spoiler + "I'm asking you to save my life." "It's not my business to save lives," Doc Daneeka retorted sullenly. "What is your business?" "I don't know what my business is. All they ever told me was to uphold the ethics of my profession and never give testimony against another physician." "You're dead, sir," one of his two enlisted men explained. Doc Daneeka jerked his head up quickly with resentful distrust. "What's that?" "You're dead, sir," repeated the other. That's probably the reason you always feel so cold." "That's right, sir. You've probably been dead all this time and we just didn't detect it." You are Doc Daneeka, the squadron physician. Being a doctor isn't meant for you, but that's ok. Thanks to your propensity for falsifying flight rosters, you've gained the ability to survive after death! Unfortunately, the Air Force doesn't provide dead soldiers with food, pay, or shelter, so you will only survive for 1 half-cycle after death and may not vote for that half-cycle.
