Again, in the context of a newbie just out of his newbie games and playing in the big leagues, this doesn't make sense as a scum post. He sees that he was wrong about Artanis and VE (to an extent). He's not making apologies for it, or trying to fix his mistake. He's just calmly explaining himself.
