Yes. You may breadcrumb normally however you wish; however using encryption programs online or creating keys for the sole purpose of seeding the thread with encrypted messages is off-limits.

I realize this is a bit hazy but it's never been an issue before in any of my games. Use common sense and nothing bad will happen to you.

Easiest midterm of my life, thanks for asking :p I have a project due Friday though: it's like a twitter thing. If I succeed I'll link it or something, maybe.
