Look at it from the mafia's perspective: You have a townie up for lynch. He's ahead in the votes. Perfect, leave him alone, the town will lynch him with or without your help. Then, since you know that he's town, wait till it's too late, then push for someone else. At worst you get a no-lynch, at best it does nothing, and you gain some town cred for trying to save a townie. The thing is, by defending someone who nobody else is defending you betray extra knowledge. JeeJee did something extremely similar in a mini a while back where OriginalName was up for lynch, and everyone jumped on him. Jeejee defended him hardcore even though the arguments against ON were sound. There was no way that Jeejee could have known that he was town unless he had extra knowledge, and hey look. He turned out to be mafia. Second, vote-switches take a lot of time. Especially when Europe is asleep. Any sort of vote switch with less than 4-6 hours of time left is going to be impossible to pull off unless there are only a few players left. Starting one with 2 hours left served only to create chaos, and possible townie cred for you. (Obviously that last part didn't work out) It's important to look like town when you are town. It's not the priority, but it's still important. Starting that vote-switch was bad play. However, I've seen townies do all of that and then flip town. I think it's bad play but not a strong tell. People saying that palmar is scummy because he is right have something to thier arguments. There IS logic behind it. That being said, I do not hold those arguments to be very strong because I've seen townies do it too. It's something that would make me look at a player more closely, but not assume they are scum. Calling for vigs on active people is a really bad idea. Don't kill for information. I don't know how that got suggested. On to scumhunting.
