As far as the bum/not bum vote, I think bum is the best bet for the town for reasons that have already been discussed at length. As far as the irc channels goes, well, gather round fellas, because I may be new to mafia, but I am an old hand at irc. I think having an irc for this is a very bad idea. Basically, it is just a more fast paced version of the forum which, on the one hand i know we all think 'well that is good it gives the scum more of a chance to fuck up and reveal themselves when they are under the gun' but the thing is, everyone will fuck up sooner or later. I'm sure if we do an irc channel literally everyone that participates will, sooner or later, say something that convinces someone that they are scum. That is what happens when you are able to share information without thinking hard about it first. (for instance, look at my signature...do you think any of those guys (besides aesop) would have said those things if they had had time to re-read it before clicking a post button?)
Also, I see a major component of the irc channel debate will be 'x isn't active in irc, he must be scum' or 'x is too active in irc, he must be scum' basically wifom madness imo, since with imperfect data either choice will put suspicion on a player and, since town outnumbers scum, more suspicion floating around should benefit scum.
So I vote no on irc and yes on bum, and the above are my reasons. Why is he using his noobiness to explain why he isn't contributing?! A true green noobie would be trying to contribute his ass off (like I am right now) instead of coming into the thread, posting unhelpful bullshit like this. Ok, so I know some other people have addressed this and you pulled back a bit on the next page but I still want to address this myself since I'm getting a "FUCKING POST MORE GODDAMNIT" vibe from the thread, and I think I can help shed some light on this.
First of all, as someone (I think it was Jackal) said, just because I don't play like you play doesn't make me auto-scum. I'll admit that this was daunting at first, but I think I've officially gotten the hang of this game, and you should see my post count shoot up from here on out. (although I still will be afk for hours at a time because god damnit guys I'm a college student seriously I have other things I need to do sometimes holy fuck get off my back)
Yes, I talked about irc, and yes, scum would be against irc, but I think (for the reasons that I laid out in my post) that it was also bad for town. Don't ignore the things that I said and then say "He only talked about x" as if that is a reason for me to be scum. But the irc thing is an entirely dead subject at this point so I don't want to harp on it as that will just derail.
As for the one liners, please, I beg you guys that are focused on those, go back and look at when I made them. You see all the super useful posts surrounding them? Oh wait you don't? Well that is because nothing of any importance was happening at the time i made them, just people making snap judgements on others as scum before there was anywhere near enough information to make those claims, some of my one liners were before the game even started.
Ok, so enough of me feeling like my back is against the wall, I've defended myself as much as I feel I need to until I know bum's reasons for putting me on his hitlist, now I think I'm gonna share some analysis of my own.

Ok so tnkted idk what your plan is, and I think that is the point, but if it requires me to be on and active I'm just gonna post my real life itinerary for the rest of mafia day 1 so that you know when I will and will not be available.
I plan on driving home in 4-6 hours, which is a 2 hour drive so I should be home at ~2am central time. Starting then I will have only occassional access to the internet (I will need to borrow my sister's laptop) for about 36 hours before I get back. I wasn't going to say anything about it since I intended to borrow my sister's laptop once or twice anyways just to keep up with thread and post some, but if you need me on at a concrete time the sooner you can let me know the better. I have to do some friend-hanging-out-with and some assuring-i-still-have-a-job-this-summer while I'm home, but just about any time you need me except tomorrow night from ~6pm to ~2am I will be able to be available.
So yeah, if you end up going through with this plan thing just tell me asap when I should be ready.

The item game, it has been brought up, is important for the town to win. The town winning means we get to use the items, and the scum winning means that particular variety of scum gets to use the items. I don't think a non-item game player asking questions about the item game win condition is weird enough to draw any suspicion.

If someone dies in the item game before the game has been won, the items are given to the remaining item game players (I assume rng), if someone dies causing a win for a faction in the item game, that faction gets the items.

From what I have read it seems that BEFORE VICTORY whenever a player dies in the item game their item is RNGed to remaining players. However, UPON VICTORY all remaining items will be given to the winning faction, not just the player that was in the item game, but their entire faction, and then that faction will be able to use one of the items every night from there on out.
Is the above analysis of the item game win conditions correct?

Yes, once there is only one person left in the item game simple process of elimination will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt what their alignment is, so they will be the next obvious lynch target (unless of course they are town), however their unknown cronies will have the items at that point, so for them it will probably be a good trade.

Insanious how about we just don't lynch anybody and all hold hands and sing kum-ba-ya? This is mafia, not pre-school. People are going to get lynched, and as part of this IG circle that we are speaking about, I will say that I too think tack is scum. I support jackal's ideas and intend to do my part to see the town win this item game, and right now I feel jackal's plan is our best bet.

Well he is trying to steer the game in a direction with outside forces that shouldn't have any bearing over the game. (but it was meant less as a flame and more to show him the error of his ways, I apologize for any flame that came across)

You aren't trying to save him based on a reason inside the game, you are trying to do it for reasons that don't take place inside the game. The point of this game is to lynch the scum, not to make nice so everyone wants to come back. Tack is a big boy he can handle being lynched. Please give ACTUAL REASONS for him to be saved, not just that it is going to make him enjoy the game less.

Ok, I'm operating with borrowed time so I can't be nearly as verbose as I'm sure you would all like me to, but I'm gonna try to answer the questions that have been asked of the IG players.
Now a lot of this is based on PMs, a lot on the thread, and quite a bit on just good old fashioned hunches as well.
My reads on my fellow IG players is as follows. (I'm going to reveal how these have changed over time too because I think it is the kind of information that might fit well into one of your fancy analysis posts)
In alphabetical order:
Annul At the start of the game, long before our pm circle became active, I was sure he was scum because I thought he was derailing the thread needlessly and that just seemed scummy. Since then I have slowly made a 180 on him and am now reasonably certain that he is town. I haven't pm'ed him a lot.
Coagulation I've thought he was town from the beginning. I know I know, we are friends, and you guys think that has something to do with it, but the thing is, the only way we could POSSIBLY be on the same side is if we were both town. So working together, unless one of us is so dense as to let the other one puppet them completely, will help town. Coag and I have been actively PMing each other since pretty much the start of the game, I know some of you say that is scum behavior for me to PM lots and post little, but we are trying to get something in the works to win the item game for town, and if we post details of it it won't work...so you are just going to have to give us a day or two to do our thing.
darmousseh I've got a scum read on him, but in his defense, a lot of it is process of elimination because i see 4 town reads in IG. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he flips town, but at the end of the day, we need to win the item game, if we lose a green or two in the process that sucks, but i think the town can stomach a 2/2 trade that gets us some nifty items and some confirmed townies. I just woke up to my first pm from him, I intend to pm him back, and if he survives the lynch to pm him more in the future to get an actual read on him.
Jackal58 I think he is town, and I intend to go along with his plan completely until such time as it starts spilling green blood. He is brazen and outspoken, and if he really is town he not only is flirting with a lynch but he is forcing both scum factions to pay very close attention to him. I think that is a benefit to his plan that not many people have thought about. He is basically forcing scum hands if they want any chance at winning the item game. I expect IG to be a bloodbath, but I think jackal's plan gives us the best chance of a green/some greens to be the ones left standing. I have pm'ed him a bit, second most after coag.
Lemonwalrus That's me. I've got a town read on me. I've also got a town alignment pm on me. I'm pretty sure this guy is town. bitch hasn't pmed me at all yet though, so maybe he is hiding something.
Tackster I've got a scum read on him, and so does coag, who's townishness and reading skills i trust completely. We've started pming a bit recently, but I had to sleep before we really got anywhere. I think his defense of himself in the thread (which a ton of you are falling for hook line and sinker) seems like a desperate attempt to throw blame everywhere he can just to avoid getting lynched. I only hope that his scum buddies were dumb enough to support him to give us some analysis material when he flips scum.
I think our best bet as town is to lynch Tack. If he flips scum, continue with jackal's plan, if he flips town...well, see who we've got left standing after night kills and start analyzing where every IG player stood on the decision and why.
I could see an argument for lynching darm, but I would rather we lynch Tack because personally I have a stronger read on him. I would not be at all surprised if darm flips town, so I'd like to wait till I have a better read on him before we possibly waste a lynch on him.

Just to clarify, IG players can copy/paste item game PM's in full in the thread? If so, I think first order of business is to mass share whatever PMs we got from darm to see what we can see. (If this sounds like a bad idea let me know, I don't want to give scum more info than they should have, but I feel we can maybe learn from it, idk, gimme input please)
