That ref was quite a card-happy.
There's no denying that SK was playing very physically in the first half, the ref had to do something (there was almost a fight lol). It was much better in the second half, so he did a good job of keeping it under control.
The Korean U23 football team is in a much superior league compared to Japan. I see a lot of potential from Korea's midfielder (Seung Yeung Ki?) and the forward Park Chu Young showed an excellent display of goal scoring and goal setting today.
Korea outclassed and totally demolished Japan today.
Japanese probably have better passing skills but Korea played a very canny game -- precisely because Korea knows how to break down the Japanese team from countless previous encounters. Start out being by physical and apply intense pressure and the Japanese passing game will break down. Very important win for Korea!
Japanese passes were quite terrible today. I saw about three very clumsy passes (like 10 feet off target) from their midfielders.
Also Japan's goal scoring ability is very weak and their defence is pathetic... look how Park Chu Young just ripped through their defence even when there were three defenders surrounding him. Either Park Chu Young has amazing dribbling skills or Japan's defence is just badly coordinated. Probably both.
Gotta give credit to Yuki Otsu though, he had two good chances but they were not utilized properly.
To be fair, both teams have great passing but this game got so physical that neither team could get it going until the first goal against the run of play got the Japanese pushing forward a little more.

it seems to me like this tourney doesn't have a lot of playmakers, just a bunch of great forwards like neymar, cavani, suarez, etc. So i'll be curious to see as how this tourney goes. hopefully it doesn't turn into the copa america where all the teams had good forwards but terrible midfielders, which led to unattractive football and overall bad play
