Who is upset or "sore loser"? I'm just flat out impressed...I really do feel people tend to jump to conclusions. Nowhere in my post did I state that I though her win was illegitimate, undeserved, or in some way bullshit.
"Eyebrow raising" does not mean on drugs. It means that a 16 year old girl just destroyed the world record by a second or so while closing last 100m as fast as the mens winner. That's pretty damn amazing!

Here is the thing about that though...she swam the last bit of the race as fast as the men in order to get a WR. If she did this of a pace 10+ seconds slower than WR pace it wouldn't be as insane.
Women CAN close as fast as men, but the caveat here is that we only see this when the women have been going easy and the men hard. I'll use running numbers here just because I am far more familiar with that sport and its closing times. In a really quick 1500m race a man might close in 54 seconds. Most female 1500m runners are capable of this IF they are completely fresh. However, if they are running a hard race closing in 58, 59, or even 60 seconds is pretty good.
What this means is that, in order for Ye to close like she did, she was very fresh and like you said "saving something". What this means though is that Ye is capable of going at least a second, and likely several seconds, faster than what she did here as an athletes best swims do not come from a super slow pace the first 300M and then gunning it the last 100M. In a more even effort, hard race she will go MUCH faster. And to top it off she is only 16! All I can say is...one heck of an amazing athlete!

Well Germany has not many gold candidates @ the olympic games especially not for the "mainstream" sports but dressage (?) team surely delivers all the time^^ gratz Michael Jung double gold for germany.

German team is traditionally way more dominating on Winter Olympics anyway

Not just tired, muscles get hurt and sore and at the end of the competition all the competitors are pretty beat up. If it was Bo3 the finals would have 2 people limping at each other (relative to their optimal conditions, not literally ofc)

Gz to the korean judo winner. He deserved it. Silver is quite a decent result for Bischof, even though he didn't defend his title he definitely delivered.
Also just saw an interview with Bischof, he said he is really happy it's the korean who won it. Great sportsman.

Yay for Korea, a gold in judo!
I've followed the Korean internet media for last couple of days and I'm generally happy with the tone of the articles. Korean media has been heavily criticized for "gold or nothing" attitude a couple olympics back. It's heart-warming to see more articles along the lines of great competition / proud of our country's representatives / a valuable medal (or no-medal) performance.
