many of the competing guys may have good days that are better than him, but that's just how performances go. you need to look at the level of performance for everyone on equal footing. pawn is really good, for example, but is he consistently as good even in this tournament?
about these games, it does show that when SKT is not winning lanes that convincingly they can be beaten. the getting caught etc is uncharacteristic but that may just be the lakc of comfort from playing with not nearly as much vision as they had in their winning games. it's the snowball mechanics working against them. they have not had that much experience playing from behind. going forward into s4, to continue their dominance they need to either come up with a meta-leading strategic system like they had before, or it won't be the same 80% winrate kind of dominance we've been seeing. i agree with you, one of the best midlaners, but thats not enough for a lot of people here it seems (faker god, best player ever!11) Of course he's not the best player ever. Flame is Fionn pls

Why is it that you are always posting about how much you hate Faker for some reason. You were doing the same shit in the Marineking going to LoL thread, just get out already

remember you guys were like "FAKER IS UNBEATABLE HE'S DIFFERENT THAN EVERYONE THAT CAME BEFORE" and i said you guys are dumb?
you guys are dumb
also lol wonseok is good wtf he used to be the biggest piece of shit lol Who said he was unbeatable? He's lost games and hasn't had impact on some games quite a few times. With that said, the amount of good games he has and his consistency is what matters most. No player is flawless but it doesn't mean they aren't the best.
Look at lebron james in the finals. He had several games where you could blame him for the loss in the bo7 against the Spurs and got outplayed by a player on the other team several times, but he still had amazing games on the other side of that. No one denies he's the greatest player right now. No one, not in sports, not in video games, is consistently dominant 100% of the time. Michael jordan, Messi, Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, etc., have ALL had terrible showings in their primes where they just straight up got outplayed.

Yeah maybe you should learn to read, i dont hate on faker, i just dislike this fucking hype. If you cant handle this critisism on the sensationalism around him cause you are one of his fanboys, well then i cant help you. LoL isnt 1vs1 and thats the reason why i think its stupid to hype one person above his team (just like in soccer, basketball, pretty much every teamsport).
But yeah you are right, enough about that, its useless to argue about it it seems. Are there any games (wcg kr) you guys would recommend to watch?

I have no issues calling Faker the best mid in the world, but it's not like he was unbeatable during the World Finals either. Piglet and Bengi were the players who consistently won in their lanes and carried the team during most of the tournament.
SKT is still the best team in the world, but they aren't going to waltz to an easy Winter title. Blue is a lot better, Shield's rebuilding process is complete, Blaze is retooled with a stronger arsenal, Frost's chances hinge on if GBM or Maknoon can become a top flight mid lane, LG-IM #2 are a complete wild card but have the pieces to make some moves, Sword and Ozone while off in this tournament are going to more than likely be up there still, Bullets are of course going to be strong, and then you have new teams like the Arrows with Riris/ssumday, Apdo's team, and their new sister team, SKT #2, that could all be Royal Roaders depending on how they come together.
There is a reason why there has been five Champions seasons and five different champions. Coming together, having an amazing season and winning the title is insanely difficult, but it's almost impossible to repeat. Teams will see all your games, plan solely to beat you, and while your team will stay the same -- seeing as there is no reason to change a winning product -- other squads will be evolving and taking the next step. If SKT can repeat in the Winter, it'll be a testament to how strong they truly are.

You know why big name players in sports get paid as much as they do relative to their teammates? Because they're fucking worth it. Not just in terms of marketing, but in terms of championship potential. You can't have a championship caliber team without good individual players no matter how good your teamwork may be. Is it a coincidence that teams with star players like Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Kevin Durant are typically always on top teams? They carry their teams hard as hell. Why did Michael Jordan win 6 championships in a row while during the one year he retired the bulls failed to win?
The only way to build decent hype around a team is if the fans have some sort of connection to them such as being from the same region.

Your sports analogy doesn't make sense at all... Almost all team sports still have unofficial titles/debates regarding the best player in the world (Messi, LeBron, etc etc)

it's just fans vs antifans. both are fanboying, no one is on the objectivity high ground.
a discussion about best player etc is pretty cut and dry atm. faker is just too talented to be denied the title. recognizing this shouldn't involve that much emotional involvement. also people tend to be driven by distaste over fans as opposed to opinions about the players involved. some people who are fans of different scenes will react especially strongly against faker hype, or xpeke hype etc.
it's the same thing in sports. lbj has been the best basketball player by any objective measure for nearly a decade. but guys like kobe have more fans so his anti-fan base is strong. the media knows this very well and still runs a lot of storylines for these fans.

The Blue v. SKTT1 games were just weird. Between Faker dying so much in G1 early and the ridiculous snowball in G2, that somehow got held off for 40 mins, I dont think you can take much away.
Plus, IDK why SKT even is in this tournament, does Korea not believe in breaks?
|
Faker has shit games occasionally. Faker fed G1 vs KTB in their first Bo5, didn't he? Still closed out the series after eating two losses and wrecked Ryu after G3 on (and into their next Bo5 lol).
I think I said this before: if SKT/KTB was a Bo3, KTB might have 2-0ed them and made them look like noobs. SKT has a much harder time doing their Jaedong impression in a Bo3.
Didn't help that SKT was running a fucking Tryndamere strat G2 that Impact died unnecessarily on making it worthless. Busting out something gimmicky/unprepared in an elimination game can bite you in the ass hard.
Blue is pretty interesting; shotcalling seems to be really good so far and laning phase is also really strong. Let's see how Blue does in their next Bo5. They definitely fucking brought it this time though. I haven't seen SKT get killed so hard ever.

Just the timing I think. WCG could only happen between world finals and champions winter or right after winter. I'm not sure how having it after would have affected schedules for LCS/LPL etc

new management really worked well for blue, we'll see how they do in champions though.
