Really the Koreans should have been considered unknowns on the world stage (besides Najin, who were only Ro8 last year) and instead they were considered overwhelming favorites.

I think it's a result of unrealistically high expectations after how hard Koreans dominated All-Stars, given 4 out of the 5 players who went to All-Stars didn't even go to worlds. Really the Koreans should have been considered unknowns on the world stage (besides Najin, who were only Ro8 last year) and instead they were considered overwhelming favorites. Is it really because of allstars? It's probably because TL users watch the KR tournaments and they came to the conclusion that they were significantly better.

I watched ogn and both eu/na lcs and if you watched one after the other you very clearly see why the Korean region is so feared. Hype well deserved honestly. Ozone in a funk tho.

Don't forget the Teamliquid Effect Koreans have been the gaming master race for a long time on this forum ![]()

Nah it's cause of that Faker Zed play in Champions. You see that and you don't ride that hype train? You crazy.

I agree on several of your (said and non said things). Yes koreans get more "flame" for mistakes they are not "bad" but they are underwhelming to expectations, I again agree with you that the koreans were extremly overrated because probably 9 out of 10 people said koreans (specifically skt t1) would win and now we see flaws in their games. I like it makes the tournement way more open (unless OMG, royal club will stomp through now)

It's not just TL , every LoL forum I've been on has been bashing KR and praising them prior to this, rather interesting to say the least.

I think it's any worse than the pro-Korean circle jerk that goes on all the time everywhere. Any time NA or EU does something poorly people trash teh region and say stuff like "Koreans never do ___ or allow ___ to happen." So I think it's fair to be like "That wasn't perfect, what's going on?"

Well I guess the Reddit crowd is more casual, they probably don't watch champions and just pick up on the Korea hype because It's cool to do so and they watched Faker doing Faker things on youtube one time. They never really knew what to expect in the first place, other than apparently Korea destroying them(which hasn't happened so far). So they're going to gloat, pretty expected behavior.
