It works when it's group picking or a separate event, where you're essentially tuning in just to hear the hilarious commentary and questions and shit-talk. In this case though, I feel like it de-hypes the audience, who then need to rebuild their energy during the pick/bans instead of already peaked and ready for the main event as it were. It's one of the few ways I think eSports could take a cue from 'real' sports: when they say 'kickoff at 9:07' they mean it. Teams are introduced running through pyrotechnics and fog and banners with loud music, someone sings Star Spangled Banner, flip the coin, shake hands, and kick the fucking ball =]. Anyhow, tangent officially over, game on, first blood almost gotten as I typed this and got very distracted =p | ||
