it's a botnet of tons of infected computers sending junk data or connection attempts to the venue WAN link that is being used for the event

Riot needs to talk to the venue manager to talk to the venue's service provider to try to get some kind of solution to the DDOS

That's why I distinguished between DoS and DDoS. So how did someone get the IP of the venue internet and give it to a big enough botnet? And what botnet operator decided HEY LET'S DDoS LEAGUE? They had multiple 720p upstreams simultaneously. Just like them saying they're going to change network hardware. How would they help if it was a DDoS? This stinks of a really awful excuse.

Wait...why do they need to replace the hardware after a DDoS? I would think the worst they would need to do is reboot the routers after they figured out the problem...or does DDoS send out missiles now?
