This is the best way to do a double elim bracket, you can't avoid one team having a disadvantage anyway.

I don't know. Everyone has been complaining about the extended series that MLG uses because it gives the winner bracket team a bigger advantage.
CLG can lose 2 games over sets and still win in standard double elim but they would lose in MLG extended bo7 or your 1 game advantage bo5. But this is more an issue with the game length since LoL games lasts ~3x longer on average than SC2 games.

People always phrase it like this, but isn't it easier to just call it "double elimination"? The team that loses twice is out. So far, TSM has not lost a set yet. So, TSM still has a back up "life" in stock.
Normally you definitely could phrase it like this, but there's numerous tournaments that have no clue how double elimination is supposed to work and thus everyone becomes confused

This format is really the only way to do double elimination, I feel. I definitely greatly prefer it to the MLG extended series concept. I'm rooting for CLG, but I only find it fair that they should have to win two best of 3s here.
