[IEM] Kiev Discussion - Page 151

At any point of IEM Kiev, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. (e.g. "Day 2: M5 hype was everything people expected") At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Kiev but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament. Thanks. Neo, 20.1.2012

This was expectable: Oce more or less throws G1, now everyone is in such a bad mood that dignitas with their 1:0 lead confidence snowballs into a fast 22 minute win. Well, it was G2 that Oce threw - but Dignitas' G1 loss helped them get their groove back by having fun dunking people regardless of result =p

Nvm. I didn't get it was G3 alreay. My bad, sorry. But having team captain Oce causing them to lose a more than winnable game must be frustrating and thus influencing the next game's performance.

Voyboy: Well, when we lost yesterday we thought hard and then we came up with this Dr. Dunkenstein strat where it's all about diving and initiating and blowing people up. It didn't quite work how I wanted it to hahaha. It was really all my fault for losing the game. Especially the 3 man gank at the beginning, I should have seen it coming. Phreak: So did you abandon the Dr. Dunkenstein strat then for game 2? Voyboy: Well, we decided to play our regular safe game and with Irelia I just jump on Nyph and then we can win from there. Phreak: So was this planned beforehand or did you adapt? Voyboy: Well, it was all based on picks. We decided to make a team to protect Graves and then Irelia with BT came from there. Jump in, slow, disengage. Phreak: So tell us about your build then. BT isn't common. Voyboy: Well, I managed to get Frozen Mallet + Atmas early. After that, I didn't need MRes because Morgana is not a burst caster. So I went BT for more EHP. That time I died was more because I thought we were going in when we weren't. Phreak: So what was the plan for Game 3? Voyboy: Well, we just wanted to play the champions we wanted. We took Graves+Nunu because it's good. Meowkai is a good jungler so we took that too. We wanted a comp all around Akali and we knew that early. Phreak: So does Akali beat Irelia? Voyboy: Well, both players can just farm the matchup. But yeah. It didn't go how it should have for the Irelia. Phreak: Then how did you beat him so hard? You towerdived him for First Blood at level 6. Voyboy: I dunno if he knows the match up, but he stuck around at low hp under tower so I just killed him. Phreak: So do you change your mindset once you're ahead? Voyboy: Yeah. I was camping their blue waiting for someone. I saw Oce mid alone so I killed him. Once we were ahead, we moved to teamfighting. Phreak: You say Graves + Nunu is a strong lane. How do you choose the lane picks and their picking order? Voyboy: Well, Graves is so good you want to pick him early. Some champions like Ryze and Karthus you just have to pick them early. You want to get strong champions. But you need to be careful not to get lane counterpicked. Phreak: So, what's your predictions for the Grand Finals? Voyboy: Hm... Well, I think M5 will win but I want TSM to win haha yeah.
