Riot has announced the winners of the spring split for NA LCS, EU LCS, LPL, LCK (Korea), LMS (Taiwan) and a wildcard will be invited to a tournament between splits. The wildcard will consist of GPL, Brazil, Turkey, Oceania, Latin America, Japan and CIS.

The tournament will be held from May 7-10 in North America with the wildcard tournament occurring two weeks earlier in Turkey

As we work in partnership with pro leagues around the world towards a unified system -- including consistent two-split calendars -- we saw a great opportunity to bring together the global leagues for a new competitive event in the middle of the season. We’re calling this the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and it’ll be held between the Spring and Summer splits, in May. MSI will act as the major event at the halfway point in the LoL esports season, pitting the winners of the Spring Splits of the NA LCS, LCK, LPL, LMS, and EU LCS against each other. Additionally, the winning team from the International Wild Card Invitational (more details below) will join them.

How does this affect the Spring Split? We’re looking forward to more fierce competition than ever. With the new Championship Points system, teams will be fighting not just with an eye on Worlds, but to qualify for the MSI and to get valuable experience on the international stage, to pit themselves against top competition, and to show esports fans around the world what they’re made of.

MSI will take place on May 7-10, 2015 in North America. We’re finalizing the last details on our venue as we speak and we’ll share official details -- including how you can buy tickets to join us -- in early Spring.

We all saw the impact an International Wild Card region can make at Worlds. The development of these regions is critical to the future of having a strong global esport, and we want to offer them an additional opportunity to compete on the international stage. This year we’ll be experimenting with a new concept -- a multi-regional competitive event specifically for emerging leagues. The International Wild Card Invitational (IWCI) will be held in Turkey in late April, with teams representing Turkey, CIS, Oceania, Japan, Brazil and Latin America, and GPL. The winner will get to compete against the Spring Split’s best at the MSI in North America two weeks later.

MSI won’t be replacing All-Star 2015 (ASG) -- this will be moving to the offseason in December, post-Worlds. While the MSI will offer a competitive and intense tournament midseason, we’ve loved seeing fans rally around the fun and spontaneity of ASG over the past two years. Moving it to the December offseason allows us to provide a fun, international exhibition tournament focused on fan favorite players and teams, unexpected matchups and game modes, and celebrating stars from throughout the season.

Stay tuned for more details on these international events as well as news on Worlds 2015 over the next few weeks -- hope to see you there!

noice, more international competition. So we have Springsplits across the regions, then IEM katowice, mid season inviational, summer splits, worlds and then allstars during the offseason. should be an exciting year.

H-how about t-two teams from KCL and LPL... No? ok...
Americans don't like to use unblockables, it is considered not honest. You press a button at the wrong time and hit the other person, you are random, not a top player. You DP Sim's far fierce, it is random and not honest.

Hopefully this is competitive and teams are incentivized to take it seriously. All-Star last year was decent, and it's nice to have best-of-region tournaments. IEM just doesn't cut it most of the time unfortunately.

It looks like an improvement on last year at least, but I still miss the days of having more international tournaments. IPL 5 was the best.

Wish it was at least 8 teams, 6 teams is such a terrible number and can't really have good format with that.

Only down side is the long ass wait before a new All-star tournament. Wonder if they'll go back to the Season 3 way of voting players to have a mixed team. Seems reasonable since this can serve as the actual competitive multi-region event.

I feel like the GPL teams should be pretty angry at this for not getting an automatic bid in. I'd be surprised if the team from that region didn't blow everyone else in the first part out of the water.

Would have preferred GPL getting a spot and the wildcards fighting for two spots
makes the tournament 8-team and it makes wilcards an even number at least (6)
everything is less awkward and it's not like riot saves travel expenses considering they send the wc's to turkey anyway

You could also argue that they can be happy to play an additional tournament, The International Wild Card Invitational (IWCI). There they have the chance to prove that they are better than the other small regions. Instead of just playing and losing 2 games in the main tournament.

It should probably be top 2 of every region so we can see the really good teams shine, but maybe Riot intentionally doesn't want all-Asian top 4

I still miss IPL5

I would like to see at least 2 Wildcard invitations, i mean the 2 finalist should be invited becuase there are too many "wildcard regions" and only 1 invite.

Really hope that changes, if im not wrong there were 2 wildcard teams at Worlds.
