Also never heard of Solo or Hard so that's always a treat after having followed the scene for awhile. Solo was known as TheSoloKing, I believe, and played for ZEN (Zenith eSports). Hard has been a solo queue superstar for some time now, but not much else. I'm excited to see how the squad shapes up. Hard seems incredibly promising, LOD and Yusui are veterans of the scene, Solo was a superstar of the top lane who should be able to continue his success here, and Stixxay is...well, I don't know much about him as I didn't see Denial play very much. Overall an incredibly promising team.

Curse has had sister challenger teams for a while, C9 had 2 challenger teams for a period, TSM had one as well IIRC. This isn't the first team to create a challenger team in NA.

This isn't the first team to create a challenger team in NA. The key word here is "develop." Cloud 9, TSM, and other organizations had Challenger teams, but they did not find and develop the talent themselves. Instead they approached an already successful challenger team and simply brought them in under their name. What Curse and now Cloud 9 are doing is saying, "Okay, we're going to create an academy team. Who do we want on it?" instead of, "We want a challenger team, who do we buy?" There is a difference there that is actually quite important.

Thanks for correcting me!

There is a difference there that is actually quite important. I don't think that's the only way to look at it though. Of course it's nice that C9 and Liquid are developing Challenger rosters from the ground up, but (and I'm not saying this is what you meant, just pointing it out) it's unfair to look down on organizations that put their support behind established teams. Teams that bring themselves together aren't undeserving of the resources a major organization can offer them just because they weren't put together by said organization. Until more new owners/organizations/sponsors like Fusion and MSI step in and look at the Challenger scene seriously, we're still gonna have teams come together and disband after one split because potential owners are waiting for teams to qualify for the LCS first. Honestly, I don't think it should fall to LCS owners to put together new teams. For instance, if the OpTic rumors meant anything and they are actually interested in the LCS, why can't they use their resources to develop talent? Why wait until an LCS owner's Challenger team is developed, qualified for the LCS, and ready to be sold?
