Alright, we're going to call it a day with all the Thorin drama, guys. I figured if it was about SI, onGamers, TSM, etc, it had some relevance to League but somehow you guys managed to devolve the discussion into an issue about race of all things.

Enough is enough. Let's move along now.

This isn't the first time thorin was left wishing he hadn't said something. His personality is not suited for a show like SI. He's suited for a TMZ style coverage of LoL. Something like SI needs the PTI model for their personalities, that show has almost perfected the rapid news coverage and criticism/opinions.

For those who do not know the show:
+ Show Spoiler +

I actually think controversial talk show hosts are the best. They draw viewers

they draw viewers, but they don't command respect and their shows are often short lived and lacking in content.

Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith are doing just fine and dandy.

Skip's on his 5th co-host in 7 years, and the show is far from as popular or enjoyed as PTI. and PTI has had the same guys for 13 years.

I don't think you know what the definition of 'racism' means, you are confusing it with xenophobism. I suggest you look it up at a dictionary. And for all intent and purposes, Reginald is perceived as being American.

P.S. I'm Asian as well so it would also do wonders for your perceived intelligence if you restricted yourself from making sweeping generalizations.

Racism: the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Yea, I'm pretty fucking sure I'm using that word correctly. Asians are pretty racist.

Chinese is a race. Korean is a race. Japanese is a race. "Asians" is not a race. That's like saying "white" is a race. If it makes you feel better I can just write it out. Chinese are racist; so are Koreans, Japanese, and many other racial groups in Asia. It's just faster to say "Asians are racist."

race:
'any of the traditional divisions of humankind, the commonest being the caucasian, Mongoloid, and Negro, characterized by supposedly distinctive and universal physical characteristics. '

lol, good job. You found a definition of race that, according to the source I think you found it from, is "no longer in technical use."

I think ParadeofMadness is confused due to the changing of the term and the inconsistent usage of the term race. I mean people still call "African" a race yet by today's standards that's incorrect. Same can be said about Asian.

And what is the fucking definition of a race? Which definition of a race distinguishes says there is a Chinese race and a Viet race instead of saying there is an Asian race, some of Chinese national identity, some of Viet national identity? Show me one fucking definition of a 'race' that supports your usage.

On top of that, you grabbed a technical, outdated definition of race that was used by anthropologist 50 years ago and said that's a "folk usage."

Please.

Unrelated, apparently race is also the name for the root of a ginger plant. Who knew.

Our goal is to deliver robust, intricate details about your previous matches in an accessible, intuitive interface that allows you to share game histories with your friends. We’re making more of your games visible, not just your last 10. We’re expanding the end-of-game information, using graphs and heat maps to display dragon kills, gold-per-minute, death locations and more. And now you can share links to your match history across all of your favorite social channels.

Related to sharing, there is one aspect of the new match history we want to dive into deeper. We believe ranked play is the highest sphere of competition. Players opt in to ranked play to measure their skill in an amped-up competitive environment, and the focus is much more on winning. In order to maintain that legitimacy, we believe that ranked game stats should be open knowledge, so unlike match histories for normal queue games, ranked games will be publically available.

Seems awesome !

The thing that I actually enjoy the most is "death locations". Analyzing places where you tend to die the most will give a clear information what kind of retarded mistakes / misspositionings you're making.

So,
I've just read somewhere that they moved servers to Amsterdam ? And it's actually working pretty faster than it did before but I had no comparizon, because it was late at night and there weren't that many people logged in.

Also the new match history update seems cool - http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/features/announcing-new-match-history-beta

Seems awesome !

didn't the server move cause EUW to blow up for the day?

Can't be hard to move their macbook air they run their servers on.
I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

Well from what I've heard/read (no idea if that's true) they moved the servers to Amsterdam today, so I guess it was right after it blew up.

Iirc they expected downtime because of the move, then it blew up anyway

Alright, we're going to call it a day with all the Thorin drama, guys. I figured if it was about SI, onGamers, TSM, etc, it had some relevance to League but somehow you guys managed to devolve the discussion into an issue about race of all things.

Enough is enough. Let's move along now.

@PX: For those who don't know, what's the difference between the two formats?

iirc PTI is 30 minute show, with the show hosts quickly giving their opinions on headlines on the major 4 sports (and sometimes other sports or pop culture), usually keeping it fairly short.

First Take is much longer, 2 hour episode every weekday. Much more long winded, more focused on basketball, football, and baseball. The hosts are more long winded, and love to rant. I find myself watching First Take more often than PTI, and keeping the channel on longer for first take than PTI.

PTI i linked a random episode in a prior post, its a more rapid fire show where two opinionated hosts discuss whether they like dislike agree or disagree with various statements or news articles, they take turns talking about it over the course of 2 minutes a topic, but they pretty frequently run over time by up to a minute when in a heated discussion. The hosts are pretty well respected within their community and the show often tries to cover the latest news in all of sports, a LoL specific could be a longer weekly or biweekly easily though. The show has three segments: Headlines, where they discuss the headlines as i mentioned, 5GM or 5 good minutes, its an interview segment with a topical guest where they bring up whatever is the biggest news of the day with the guest and give them a chance to speak their mind about it, the third section is either email/twitter based questions or discussion of future games to be played the next couple days, occasionally the headlines or interview go over and they skip the section.

First Take has 2 rather controversial hosts that bring up a myriad of guests and all debate the latest sports news its usually a couple hours long and is done more in a podcast format rather than a discussion like PTI. First take tends to be more ranty and has a lot of arguing between hosts and guests and is less organized in general.

im pretty bias'd in this summary as PTI is my favorite show on ESPN though
