I wonder if this will start the practice of splitting the profits from interview videos with the interviewed party.
[Patch 4.9] RIP Kha'Zix General Discussion - Page 67

Alright, we're going to call it a day with all the Thorin drama, guys. I figured if it was about SI, onGamers, TSM, etc, it had some relevance to League but somehow you guys managed to devolve the discussion into an issue about race of all things. Enough is enough. Let's move along now. -NeoIllusions

In any case I'd trade Travis interviews for SI if it was a once a month show, let alone weekly.

Regi's way is a lose lose situation, as opposed to win win for both parties. Regi is so salty about Thorin he's willing to take a hit to spite Thorin and Monte. Had Regi continued his relationship with Travis, his players get free publicity, and his sponsors get publicity (this is a huge one imo, sponsors will not like the fact that Regi is giving LESS media time to sponsors). Travis is non-controversial, he gives out softball questions to all the players, both party benefits. SI continues doing it's show, no more Loco, as Regi does not want TSM on Thorin's show, fair enough. Regi's current route. Makes him into a more controversial icon, more focus on him than on his actual brand. Brand no longer gets free publicity with the ez interviews from Travis. Less coverage of his players, less sponsor exposure. Travis has less of a pool of players to talk to (though, I'm sure he'll make do). Thorin becomes an even more controversial figure (this is actually probably benefit to him). Regi could have just as easily cut off Thorin without cutting off Travis, and it would have been a win win for everyone. Instead he went for the lose:lose, hoping that Thorin gets cutoff off ongamers, which is just pure salt imo. Also, especially getting 2 fucking new guy into roster, and less media coverage to discover personality??? especially bad time to do it for Regi

This is TSM getting primetime spotlights on them for things off the rift. This is what sponsors might actually want more than just interviews, because no one remembers interviews no matter how funny, they remember the tidbits of drama and the tensions in a storyline. This is TSM making a story and its exactly what a sponsor would want IMO.

I wonder if this will start the practice of splitting the profits from interview videos with the interviewed party. pretty sure organizations in mainstream sports blacklist companies. i don't think it's so much that Monte and Thorin think TSM sucks, more the fact that Thorin repeatedly bashes Regi, TSM, and the players. I mean ffs, Thorin went on SI tonight and called Regi an ape. That's pretty unprofessional. If a company is repeatedly attacking your company's image, won't you sever all ties with said company? On top of that, according to Regi's response, the drama started with Locodoco telling the TSM players they should stay away from social media (pretty smart imo) and just not do interviews for the time being. Imo, this makes plenty of sense considering that the last thing TSM needs right now is the players reading all the shit on FB, Twitter, and Reddit and tilting super hard. Then shit happened behind the scenes. Regi accuses Travis of telling Thorin/Monte to bash TSM on SI, but Travis says he did no such thing and there was miscommunication between onGamers and Regi. Regardless, Thorin goes on SI and calls Regi an ape and well. Drama. Regi's response is more mature/professional than Odee's little Twitch chat rant anyways. Plus, it's not like Regi's move is without precedent. C9 blacklisted Thorin a while back iirc.

Plus, they get into this kind of controversy. Wasn't TSM also doing horribly the last spring split in S3? They were like middle of the pack, losing to Curse, Dig, CLG until they got WildTurtle in week 4 or something?

They're kinda like Fnatic in that they take a while to adapt, but do very well once they do. Plus they changed almost half their roster. Can't really be surprised they're not doing well.
