The most interesting part about Sephiroth is the fact that he was mistaken from the start, and thought his mother to be a Cetra. Design, personality, development-wise he's sub-tier for me (I haven't played Crisis Core but I don't think I want to get involved with it), and the only thing that actually made me think FF VII had a good overarching plot all these years was that I thought it was Jenova using his legacy and manipulating his clones for her own ends. I was disheartened when the wiki confirmed to me that the way everyone else interpreted it (Sephiroth controlling clones from beyong the grave and using Jenova himself and being the Big Bad) was how Square intended it. :< I'm guilty of having loved Vincent at the time though.
